Apparantly, according to my local 'sunday express', a british gold coin was found metal detecting and it is believed to have sold for about £150,000 which would beat the charles II petition crown that went for £138,000! -
Its French, Emperor Napoleon III, probably around 1864 yes...either a 5 or 10 cents... Thats all i can offer...i dont know much on foreign coins Edit: the M is of EMPRES FRANCAIS

Rubbish. All silver coins pre-1920 contain .925 silver. Silver coins from 1920-1946 contain merely .500 silver. yes well...i collect bronze and copper...not silver -

The content of the coin is not nessessarily the coins worth...if a coin can be found on the everyday market then that coin would have a low price...if the coin was hardly ever seen on the market then the coin would be more expencieve... Also, the mintage of the coin plays a significant role in the coins value...take pennies for example; a 1967 penny (has a high mintage) in BU condition is worth about 50p, whereas a 1952 penny (very low mintage) in BU condition is worth about £36... It all depends on these conditions (there may be more, but it is early in the morning ), including its grade... All silver coins of britain (pre-1947) contain around 0.925 silver... -

Im sure he's ok...maybe his parents told him to concentrate more on school and leave coinage for the holidays (as he has only just passed his 11+ and in a new school) ...But who knows? -

I believe that the laurel examples have 'LAUREL' somewhere around the date... But as chris said, they are normally smaler than the real thing...

"stunning EF", AD 194... That is one of the reasons that i do not trust eBay...even though i have bought from the seller (curlietailz) before with no probs.
