Okay, I'm not sure if I am posting this is the correct place, but anyway... Yesterday night I picked up two 2004 pennies and decided to examine them. The first one had perfect lettering (image linky), but the second one had curved lettering (Image Linky 2). If you are unsure what I mean look at the bottoms of the letters to see where it curves inwards into the 'stem' of the letters. Any ideas? Edit: I haven't looked at any other dates yet, but out of eight 2004 pennies that I could find, two of them had curved letters (image 2).

I thought of that at first, but seeing as they are both in great condition (the one with perfect lettering bearing more marks than the other) I don't see how this would be. Further examining of both coins I can see that the curving (image 2) has "ELIZABETH II D G R (of REG)" being effected with "EG (of REG)" not effected then "F D" effected, and the date with no effect. The obverse being unneffected on both coins. Looking at other dates (from the few that I have here) I have one curved 2003, two curved 2002, and one perfect 2001. Silly suggestion(?): Could it be that the mint changed the lettering design in 2002, but then decided to change it back to how it was after some 2004 pennies had been minted? The only 2005 penny I could find has perfect lettering. Edit: Just looked some more, the 1998, 99 and 00 pennies I have also have perfect lettering.

At first I thought that it was a wind up, but after looking at his other sold items I am not really sure. He sold This a while ago, so I recon he has some knowledge of rare coins. Other than that, strange.

More of an ethnic revolution on my road. I used to think that Slough was full of chavs, but when I went to Uxbridge for the first time you couldn't exactly not see a chav at one moment in time. Chavs are annoying on buses ...and then theres goths! You know, those wierd ones that dress up in black (or pink in some cases ). But they ain't half as bad as chavs. -
Possible Error on 1835 Farthing
Master Jmd replied to Jamesred's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
It does not look clear enough to be classed as anything other than a worn die, which yes is an error, but in this case it is not fatal enough for it to be classed as a new discovery. -

Happy Birthday, JMD!
Master Jmd replied to Coppers's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
Thank you ...so far I have a bit of money, but I am not sure weather to buy new coins or not. These last few months I have drifted away from coinage to focus more on schooling and (admitingly) a cirtain girl that I like. My grades could have been better going by this year's end of year exams, so I think I will try to focus wholely on my schooling, and hopefully return to coinage after my GCSE's. I will still be able to put in work for the CCGB Early Milled that Sylvester is doing (that is still going ahead right?) during my holidays. I have very nearly completed what I can of the Farthings and Halfpennies (peck numbers!?), and will be done in a few weeks time No doubt I will be checking up on the forum for all the latest news and views regularly, but like these last few months I shall not be able to participate as much. ...the end of my fourteenth year has definately seen a change in my life. I now listen to the more modern music, and (quite unexpectedly) I got myself a girlfriend Well...goodbye for now. -

Two farthings that I need priced...
Master Jmd replied to Master Jmd's topic in Rotographic Publications Forum
Thanks again -
Okay, I did a bit more of the Farthing price listing for CCEM, and I need the prices for 1675/2 and 5/3 in all conditions, as I do not have a guide that lists these, nor can I find the prices for them online. Thanks in advance.

That time again - CCGB2006
Master Jmd replied to Chris Perkins's topic in Rotographic Publications Forum
I generally do that. I find that I can consentrate better in the morning as there is usually no one else online (on msn) to distract me, and I am not waiting for other people to come online to talk to myself. Our school is rubbish at time management. Last week, my english group was set a 1500 word essay on tuesday to be completed for wednesday! -

I think that I will have to skip it this time. As I am now (unofficially) year 11, I should start focusing more on schooling. And I still have to finish those early-milled farthings and halfpennies (I will be able to complete these). Sorry Chris -
I guess this is officially the end...

I will have to miss this too, sorry. Reason 1: I will not have enough money by then. Reason 2: I may be going whenever the next one after that is. -
Your Favourite...

Size, in my opinion, is probably the only thing which lets the farthing down. But, I think that the size of the farthing gives it its adorability. George IV and William IV half crowns are very nice indeed, I may be tempted to do a set of these myself one day... -

That is a very good question. Hmm... I would say the Vicky Farthing, but I am not entierly sure why I like them. They do look very nice in BUFL condition. But if they were a little cheaper, I would say the Mary Fine Sovereign as they look wonderful. -
Cheap hammered?
Master Jmd replied to Emperor Oli's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
That is a very nice portrait indeed. All this talk of hammered coins is giving me the urge to buy one....hmm...maybe a sideline of Edward III hammered farthings would do nicely amoungst my milled ones!
