1853 currency groat?
Iannich48 replied to Menger's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
That was a lovely coin. It also said that it had the portrait from the 1866-1879 threepenc, so the second portrait. That would mean that it was from a later striking. Does that make sense? -
I doubt if there are many numismatists working with the police, or even been asked to help.(with there enquiries)

1969 coin prices
Iannich48 replied to david.bordeaux's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I guess that there are a few members on here that did buy coins in 1969. I was born in 1969, so that is a few years before i bought any. -
Yes, shocking. I wonder if that is £250,000 retail and what the bullion value would be to those scumbag thieves.

1853 currency groat?
Iannich48 replied to Menger's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Not sure how anybody could think that the 1847/8 was an 1847/6, a nice coin and obvious overdate. -

£1100, more than I would have thought. -
Have you a list of coins that you are looking for, just out of interest? Somebody may have something for sale.
-
Well if people are silly enough just to pay for slab numbers, without even worrying what the coin looks like, then they must have more money than sense. As for the grading companies overgrading, then i don't know what can be done about that.

Wow. Vigtoria.

Which 1926 Florin is the Better Coin
Iannich48 replied to ozjohn's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I would rather have the ungraded bottom coin. Looks better and struck better than the top MS64. -
Upcoming Sincona Sale of British Gold (and silver) -YIKES
Iannich48 replied to VickySilver's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Same here, i cannot see them either. Found some decent 1848 pattern florins though. -
I see that there are plenty of places on ebay taking orders for the Charles III 50 pence pieces, at about £8 each. Seems expensive to me.
