  1. I remember when they did "Shakespeare in the Park" here every summer. The first half was in daylight, but during the second half it got dark and the trees were lit with various shades of blue and green lights. Very atmospheric.
  2. I've said it before, but the 1970 Coins & Medals annual price guide listed the 1797 twopence in BU at £35, while the 1932 penny in BU was £50.
  3. I do remember the late 60s Coin Monthly where this find was mentioned, and the letter from the RM certifying it as genuine. Until decimalisation was announced as a definite thing in 1966 there was very little interest in postwar coins - I can quite imagine the halfcrown circulating without much notice, not until the Check Your Change booklet appeared, and even Coin Monthly didn't appear until late 1966.
  4. A link would be much appreciated rather than something you have to download.
  5. were you doing the washing up when you posted this? I've never before seen an example of an 1860 PINNY...
  6. It certainly seems to have the properrties of a proof
  7. But it's never been on HIGNFY!
  8. To be fair, the ONF is just a broken die, but I'm amazed they didn't include the 1862 B over R - it's a fairly obvious variety.
  9. D&P = developing and printing, a quaint thing we used to do (or for most - have done) when photos were dependent on a strip of emulsion which, when exposed, had to be plunged into various baths of chemicals thus producing a 'negative' of the photographs. Then this had to be projected onto light sensitive paper using said enlarger, after which the paper was plunged into more chemical baths, then there was your picture!
  10. One of them looks like an enlarger lens (as in D&P films)
  11. If you decide to sell please send me a PM
  12. By then the crown was £5 not 25p (if we're talking 1990s)
  13. The gulf stream is slowly moving mainly if not entirely due to the melting of Arctic ice. However we will never get Canada weather as our weather prdominantly is subject to Atlantic westerlies which means much milder, damper climate.
  14. A good choice of reference. If you get very interested in bronze you could add Gouby (like Freeman but with more recent discoveries).
  15. Are you talking about ESC? If so, the answer is 'unlikely' - Davies is the expert for post-1816 silver, while ESC is the go-to for early milled.
  16. Sadly, during a 5 minute scoot to the bus, it decided to absolutely pour down (12:45) and I got soaked. The only consolation is that in the other 3 segments of the journey, it didn't rain.
  17. It will appear when you're not looking at it
  18. No transport available to or from my therapy session tomorrow. The bus is a 5 minute scoot away so praying no heavy rain or thunder...
  19. What do they mean, "the only one of its kind known"? The only 1990 20p struck on the wrong planchet? Quite probably. But what about other 'known' coins struck on the wrong planchet? They are all unique misstrikes and therefore only of interest to those who collect such things. Is there anyone here even remotely interested?
  20. I'd be gobsmacked tbh - there's no shortage of coins struck on the wrong planchet. £100 seems nearer the mark.
  21. It is thought that experimentation with that had already occurred by 1923, that is *IF* the 1922 penny with similar reverse to 1927 was actually struck in 1922 (my own thought is that it could well have been struck later - to strike a few pennies with a date of 1923/24/25 could have been problematic if they got out).
  22. Milk, plain, or white?
  23. I searched for "field image" and there was nothing relevant that came up. I'd suggest that if your site still apparently functions ok, I wouldn't worry about mysterious messages from Google.
  24. Ah, but is it roofless?
