We need to find a way to stop - especially - India and China from emitting so much CO2. Personally I think it would come best from us helping them (in particular India), rather than wagging our fingers and saying "tut tut". -

Well, the EU did have complete control over our laws. Oh, apart from ... Pensions and the entire welfare state The NHS and public health generally Transport, including airlines, railways, and road systems Housing, town planning, construction Taxation, including income tax, corporation tax, excise duties Police, criminal justice, and public order The army, navy, and airforce Local authorities and everything they do such as roads, refuse, the fire service, parks and recreation Alternative energy sources, nuclear reactors, power stations and the national grid But those pesky Brussels bureaucrats insisted on meddling in things such as food standards, drinking water quality, health and safety at work, the cleanliness of our beaches, workers rights, etc. I mean, who the hell did they think they were? -

We wouldn't have done better, for sure. I guess it's one of those "we'll never know" questions. One thing's certain however - being in the EU wouldn't have prevented the criminal discharges to care homes (and then death) in the first lockdown. The EU had far less influence over our internal affairs than the average voter realised and Johnson would still have gone ahead with that totally wretched policy. Correction: if we'd still been in the EU, Cameron would still have been PM and I doubt his lot would have done the same shocking thing. -

I agree. But it had very little to do with being in or out of the EU - contrary to opinion in some quarters, there was a great deal of freedom in negotiating with individual companies, it's just that most EU members thought (possibly mistakenly in this one particular issue) that they'd do better going with the overall EU negotiations. Also, we developed the AstraZeneca vaccine early due to our brilliant scientists at Oxford, and that would have happened whether or not we were EU members. -

Moderna This company generated nearly $6bn of sales from its Covid-19 vaccine in the first half of the year, achieving a $4bn net profit – the first half-year profit since the firm was founded in Massachusetts in 2010. Moderna has signed $20bn worth of vaccine contracts this year, including that for 17m doses to the UK, 460m to the EU and 500m to the US. It expects to produce up to 1bn jabs this year, followed by 2bn-3bn in 2022. Pfizer/BioNTech Sales worth $11.3bn (£8bn) were made by Pfizer in the first half of this year from the Covid-19 jab that it developed with Germany’s BioNTech. In July it lifted its 2021 sales forecast to $33.5bn. BioNTech expects to make revenues of nearly €16bn (£13.5bn) from the vaccine this year, as its first-half net profit jumped to almost €4bn from €142m a year earlier. The two firms have agreed to supply up to 1.8bn doses to the EU from December up to 2023, on top of 600m doses previously ordered this year. The US government has ordered 700m up to April next year for Americans, as well as 500m for donations to the poorest nations. Pfizer and BioNTech are aiming to produce 3bn jabs this year and 4bn next year. They are now charging the EU €19.50 per jab, up from €15.50 in the first procurement deal, the Financial Times reported. The UK is also reportedly paying more than previously, about £22 a shot for 35m doses for next year’s autumn booster campaign. -

It's not talked about because it's simply a random thing, and not a variety as such. -

Ok. Name me one benefit Brexit has delivered? -
There could be slight wear due to sliding in a cabinet tray and by handling - in which case just give it a slightly lower grade! e.g. AUNC.

Oh lord - another to add to the list of absolute no-no's : Liz Truss and Cruella Braverman being already there. -
Seaby's published a separate bronze / copper edition of their catalogue in the mid-60s. Of course, Peck was the ultimate reference at that time.

Yes, but he had to suddenly hand in a shock resignation as Downing Street cat first. But don't worry - Nadine Dorries has got his position.. -

That reminds me - I must get my niece Billie-Jean to open a Halifax account. -
One possible reason for this is that the Mint held base metal coins as a low priority compared to silver, and therefore took many more attempts to get things right, resulting in more varieties. The other reason is that the changeover from copper to bronze was so fraught with difficulties, that the period from 1858 to 1863 alone could be worth a serious research study and produce a whole book with its findings.

Agreed ... though as a general, not an absolute, principle. Just to give one example: I'd rather have a 1946 ONE' penny in EF than an UNC 1944.

Heatons, Kings Norton, or Soho? The latter I'd guess (and hope...)

If phones can connect to cameras using wifi, then the reverse should also be true? -

Yes, it's a JH 6d. I saw it for sale at the Midland Fair 20+ years ago. I would have passed over it as I already had an UNC 1887 6d, but even though it's a small coin, I could see there was something unusual about the date so I bought it. -
Digital camera question
Peckris 2 replied to blakeyboy's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
There are digital cameras which will take wifi input from a mobile phone to act as a shutter, as long as you've set up a link between phone and camera. Most of the more recent (last 7 years or more?) will do so, but afaik not necessarily the cheap ones though you can always do research into that. As for output of video "all the time", you are constrained by the cards used by the camera. Even fairly low quality video on a large - e.g. 64GB - card, you will only get so much continuous video. Again, you need to research this issue. Also bear in mind that European rules limit the length of continuous single shoot video, but I'm not sure why. -
Obviously bought by a total nutter

I'll try to find one. I agree about the overdate problem, but apparently there are scores of patterns. Ask @1887jubilee
