  1. Is the 1937 currency crown scarcer than the proof? I didn't think it was.
  2. Well, not exactly. It was a parish church until 1847 when the Diocese was formed in readiness for city status in 1853. Liverpool didn't become a city until 1880 and obviously decided to build an actual cathedral rather than designating a parish church as such.
  3. And Manchester's cathedral is... ?
  4. you sure it's H ? Couldn't it be an upside down E ?
  5. Every Xmas we went to the carol service there - many of the carols were medieval things, not your average usual stuff. That cathedral is MASSIVE ( <-- note correct use of word ) inside.
  6. Yes, you can upload 500k per post. You may need a few replies to your own topic to get each picture. As for your pictures, I assume that 1 and 3 are of the same coins, while 2 and 4 are the same but of different coins?
  7. Wow. The last time I saw anything like that was in Vienna:
  8. Eh? If you download the pdf it takes very little time to scroll down to the lots that might interest you.
  9. Speaking of which, did anyone get anything worthwhile from last week's sale? I see the 1926ME went for just under estimate - I was sorely tempted but it was slabbed so I decided against.
  10. Silly question perhaps... ...but why is the LCA catalogue always posted into a topic here, but never the DNW ? I'd rate DNW higher on the scale than LCA, so...?
  11. Very good Rob. No, it's the habit of using "massive" to indicate anything from the slightly important upwards.
  12. Footballer: "We have a big game coming up. Absolutely massive..."
  13. I almost forgot - there is something massive that annoys me. Can you see what it is yet?
  14. "Going forward" for "from now on" or "in the future"
  15. The Rees-Mogg Rule: "Anything that can be blamed on Brexit, or anything at all really, should be".
  16. I agree. 'Literally' has become one of those redundant words which 9 times out of 10 can simply be removed without altering the intended meaning. Another verbal villain is 'awesome', and sadly I've now almost become inured to 'absolutely' as an alternative for 'yes'. As four spell cheques, eye agree that their ewes is kneaded.
  17. I've just googled this and it seems that there are some restrictions - but any such are due to Covid.
  18. Forgeries often look soft and a bit blurred. But a deliberate use of the "wrong" reverse design is the biggest factor.
  19. Not as good as David Cameron...
  20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/165194715848 😄
  21. OMG. Even if you move the decimal point one place to the left, it's still optimistic.
  22. there are some very nice 1922s, here's one: https://www.ebay.com/itm/294546630388?hash=item449458e6f4:g:Ho8AAOSwPY9hkFVH
  23. Mungo Park was an Africa explorer, but I don't know about sets.
  24. What are you trying to learn? I'm assuming that the small S below the horse's rear hoof is the Sydney mintmark. Also, the reverse design is noticeably smaller than on the regular London issue: However, this is the first I've heard that there was a Sydney pattern, so there's not much I can add. I assume it's very rare.
