It's not just Labour who throw names at the PM. Those who know him well say there's a quite nasty, very egocentric, often incompetent person behind the superficial eccentric bluster. I said "often" duped, and I'm talking mainly about England, and the northerners who've been ripped off for decades by all parties. Not the "public at large" - please, read my posts properly before replying. The government have made terrible and costly mistakes during the pandemic: late to the first lockdown despite clear warnings from Italy; some sleazy double dealing over PPE contracts; and late to the second lockdown, especially the fiasco about Xmas. "What Labour lack is a clear idea of a constructive way forward. Like some original ideas which capture the public imagination. Not to mention a charm offensive to net floating voters." I agree 100% "All Labour's (and the MSM's) efforts to smear the government with the low level stuff about Boris's flat etc, fell on deaf ears because the vast majority are just not interested." Yes, and that's the problem. And has been all along, long before the Big Red Bus with its lies. People just don't see through him, or else they do, and still forgive him because of his (carefully managed) scruffy hair, 'hail fellow well met' manner. He's really a piece of work, but does 'dupe' so many people.

I thought you were talking about Brexit? ("I think Labour lost a lot of votes in the brexit constituencies (wards) because the mass of the working class got fed up with being labelled "thick racists", especially by a tiny left wing liberal elite inside the M25 circle.") I certainly agree that Labour has been annihilated in England (as opposed to Wales, Scotland, and N Ireland, where the Tories are either almost non-existent or else a minor presence). I think there are several factors for this: an electorate who are often duped by personality rather than substance (BloJob) the success of the vaccine roll out, despite the government's best efforts the 'Brexit factor' prevailing in the North who for some reason don't seem to include BloJob as part of the 'metropolitan elite' who have ripped them off for decades the swing of the pendulum And on that last point, you may or may not remember the prognosis after 1997 that the Tories "had been wiped out for a generation". The pendulum will swing back again, though currently I don't see how.

I don't think you can categorise Scotland, all the English university towns, metropolitan areas such as Liverpool, Manchester, Bradford and Leeds, and a big majority in London as "a tiny left wing liberal elite inside the M25 circle"

I think I own a couple of them? The wedding of Charles and Di, and the first £1 coin. Can't say I'm enthused about them, though that 1966WC does look rather attractive.

Is that your Open 3? Very rare indeed in high grades!

That may be technically correct, but it doesn't explain why Boris appointed then became dependent on Dominic Cummings, after Cameron had sacked him for his meddling and incompetence. Nor why he formed a Cabinet comprising such terminal no-hopers as Patel, Raab, Truss, Hancock et al. Nor why he's made such a career of spasm-decisions based on not thinking through the relevant factors, then being forced to change his mind later, all while putting on his 'man of the people' two-face mask carefully designed to win people over to his side based purely on a front of personality rather than having to be judged on his dismal record.

George VI's effigy was very similar to his brother. The reverses of farthing, halfpenny, penny, shilling were all reused.

Halfpenny ID check

I wouldn't, but could I just point out... 1. Freeman's rarity estimates (apart from the very very rare R17 or rarer, or the relatively common) should be taken with a pinch of salt. They're based a lot on a large withdrawal from circulation, but pre-1971, so anything R14-ish is not AS RARE in relation to scarce or common varieties which got melted 2. Values for varieties are extremely dependent on the collector base for them, i.e. popularity. 3. Current status, for which you need to do some research (have any been sold recently?) -
I couldn't do any quotes or replies in Firefox yesterday. Then found I could in Chrome. I found an obscure fix for Firefox so I was just testing it worked. Mods can delete this, no problem.

Firefox won't let me reply to anything or create new topics. Anyone else having problems? Using ancient version of Chrome to post this... Anyway, just wanted to say that beaded borders are quite distinct once you've seen them. -
...our dad murdered us every night before we had to go and work for 25 hours a day licking the lake dry wi' no food or drink before we went home to our shoe box. And you try telling that to young folks today. They won't believe you.

My vote would be a recut 3 -
Worth buying at that price!

But three of your 4 examples were house, car, and pension. Sorry, but those really are necessary (though car could be managed without IF you live in a city AND you don't have a family).

1915 Florin - R2?
Peckris 2 replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Weird. It's rated more scarce than 1914 (lower mintage) but much less than 1911-1913. I am very surprised by the Bull rating, but maybe it's an error? -
In the early 70s I was a volunteer on archaeological digs - the golden rule was that anything you found in the 'spoil tip' you could keep as it was archaeologically almost useless having been removed from its context. I found a decent Julia Domna denarius there which came up VF after vinegar treatment. I was an impov student sadly so I sold it to a dealer when I got home. I think I got about £7 for it which was decent back then! 'Juno' reverse? That's not one of the more common ones.

There's quite a few women - usually wives or daughters of emperors who then succeeded them, for example Plautilla and Julia Domna to name just two.
