  1. I agree with most of this, but I am a pedant. πŸ˜‰ Two of the worst crimes against English are.. the word 'attendee' (who is 'being attended' rather than 'attending'?) - 'attender' please 'electrocution' to mean simply getting an electric shock but not dying. The word is formed from ELECTRICITY + EXECUTION!!
  2. I saw them 3 times and never disappointed. It must be utterly amazing for Guy Pratt to play bass with them - he was still learning when DSOTM came out and he became a fan!
  3. Yes, the 1970 C&M annual indeed. I scanned the whole thing and I have it in Dropbox in case anyone is interested? I was right in that the 7 varieties were reduced to 4 after 12 months. I'm not quite sure what your 'parasites' reference was about - not very friendly whichever way you look at it.
  4. Is the porcelain edition also available?
  5. I remember when I was Student DJ in the early 70s, and the equipment I worked with was Quad. About the best you could get at the time.
  6. It's not optional in the case of something like: my favourite foods are fish, chips and blancmange where it should be... my favourite foods are fish, chips, and blancmange which avoids the inference that I enjoy chips with blancmange, which is how it reads without the comma.
  7. I've warned him to withdraw these replicas or they'll be reported to eBay.
  8. Yes, and what a comedown from the 80s when I was a computer programmer for them, and we got generous staff discounts.
  9. I'd be happy with a paper or digital format.
  10. I possibly still have the scans of Sealy's full varieties article from 1970? If anyone's interested I could repost if I do have them.
  11. I think I posted Sealy's list from a year later (1970) when the number of varieties had reduced to fewer than 7? I'm always suspicious of that era's "blunt" vs "pointed", as they can be put down to wear, either of the examples found or the dies. I'm not sure there is any kind of market for 1957 calm sea varieties, particularly when they are of such a micro nature. I'm happy to have a BU example and don't care which it is, frankly.
  12. I can see the flaw but wondering where the dot is?
  13. Is there a 12 step programme, or is the pub further away than that?
  14. Well, Burberry's most famous product is their trench coat ... which you presumably had to dig for the Berberis? πŸ˜†
  15. That's just HORRIBLE.
  16. All very sedate. A million miles away from 1967.
  17. "Lighthouse" has 4 consonants together? Is that one of the 6?
  18. She should apply to get onto the government's vulneeerability list which is used by supermarts for priorcity slots. Sadly MS - despite being an immuno-suppressant disease - doesn't count. πŸ˜ͺ
  19. Welcome to the forums . 😊 One of the forums here is dedicated to British Hammered - do post away!
  20. Yes, that's a nice example. Finding a good one is rather haphazard since the reverse ghosting and weak breastplate aren’t deliberate but often occur 'accidentally' as a result of the deep obverse design - it's not always going to be the case. However the weak hair IS deliberate - it resulted from the overuse of dies during and immediately after WW1.
  21. 4. facetious 5. rhythm ? (y may not count as a consonant here) 7. awkward
