You were 100% correct Stu and thanks unwillingly numismatist for putting me on to Liz who verified it was a fantasy piece unfortunately π Thanks guys this is much appreciated because it's irked me for some time. Glad it was in a joblot of coins auction and as it hardly cost anything.
-
Hi Stu The weight of it is 1.9 grams and is about 15mm wide bud
-
Thanks bud. Thing is, even if it was a fantasy piece, why isn't there another one the same like? I went over it today with the metal detector and it came up silver signal.
-
Thanks bud, my knowledge of them has been searching for this type for 2 years with absolutely no joy.

Hi guys I have this Celtic looking coin which weighs 1.2 grams. I know absolutely nothing about them but I was told few years back it was a fake. It was purchased in a joblot of metal detecting finds, over 100 different coins that were all legitimate, this one was on the fringes of his photos and blurry, so he wasn't touting it for the auction. Just double checking, because if it is fake, someone has went to a lot of trouble surely to make just this one, as I cannot find another identical example online?? Thank you βΊοΈ

Thanks guys, your input is very much appreciated -
I found this farthing in amongst my coppers. I think it may be a forgery but cannot find any information on them. It weighs 6.03 grams and doesn't have a reeded edge.

Hi Looking for info on this wreath crown please. I noticed the strike on the 9 is very weak and the B and T in Brittania are both broken which I found unusual.

Thanks Rob for getting back to me. Yes your quite correct, I can see now under a loupe that the edge has a faint diagonal milled edge all the way round and the filing down would be why it is a wee bit underweight. No sign of it being mounted on the edge although it could have been in one of them mounts that doesn't damage the coin, so as you mentioned filed down so it would fit and hence it having a shiny smooth looking appearance in hand. Thank you

Recent ebay purchase. 5.85g Looks all wrong from smooth edge, strange looking rims and casting flaws, not to mention the 17 is missing.

Yes I noticed that as well Diaconis. Lined up with other coins of that year it just looks odd.
