What do you think of Page 4?

The online version might have its place, but I don't see it being a big seller. I could be very wrong, like I said I am old fashoned!

    Wish I was!

    Your cover ideas please.

    I'll give that much!
  4. Chris, I have lots of ideas, I know you are interested in feedback on your Rotographic website and info on prices paid for coins. I will give you info each time I buy or sell a British coin on the price and feedback on your site will follow in short order. However, the best place to start might be to ask what else do you want? Are you interested in feedback on book layout and content? Are you interested in ideas for content that might be added? Are you considering adding pages to these books with this edition or future editions? I am excited about this and want to help in any way I can! Best, Michael

I will of course be happy to help. Most of my time and thought have gone into George III over the past two or more years, so I am sure that is where you will want to use me. I will be happy to answer any question, provide photographs of my collection, research any topic or help in any other way that I am able. I would love to see a really useful book on George III come out of this and I think you can do it Chris!

    Peck and Freeman

I don't have either, but if I did they would be on the way!

Just looked at the PDF file....WOW, looks really good! I like the more crisp layout as the 2004 is hard to use because it is so cluttered. It is not yet as refined as I would like to see it, but you are making great strides! In the 1960s there was a book published in the US on British coins that had a superb layout. The title was "A Guide Book of English Coins" by Ken Bressett. I have the 1968 edition and still use it from time to time for info like mintage figures. I believe I can find you a copy of it if you would like it for ideas Chris. If so just let me know.

What do you think of Page 4?

I'm an old fashioned sort of guy, but with my coin books I like paper and ink. I would much rather have a printed and bound reference than a download. Just my two cents worth and I'll bet the under 30 crowd does not agree.

    Layout and design

The only one of these books that I currently have is the 2004 CCGB, but CCGIII should be on the way soon. Tonight I will review CCGB and make notes about what I do like and what I might like to see changed.

Read this first if new here.

Chris, This is wonderful news! I am very excited for you as well as for myself in that you were kind enough to involve me in this project. I have already started a note book and will review each page as you post it. With your permission, I will print those pages in order to make notes on them (I will of course not use them for any other purpose nor share them with anyone else). I also hope to help you create an American market for these. I am the buyer at a numismatic firm here in the states and also have a connection with a major wholesale numismatic supply house (we'll talk about that in due course). For now you have my sincere congratulation. Although I have only known you a short time you seem like the type of person who deserves an opportunity like this and will take it far! I'll drink a Scotch in your honor after my little Turks are off to bed!

    Coin Giveaway!

Thats a deal as long as the dead kings from your lovely isle keep coming my way!
  12. Um, hello! If you hang around the CU Forums you know me already, if not I am a collector of George III who is based in the US.
  13. Yes, they use the 1-70 Sheldon Scale, but you will almost never see anything graded above about MS-62. The American grading services don't have much of a clue about how to grade hammered coins and I have been known to curse them for it a time or two!

    Fur or no fur?

I had to side with the animals in this one, for me at least. I don't really want to wear anything if it si the only reason the animal was killed. I do wear leather from time to time (belts, watch bands, shoes et cetera, but I believe the meat is used as well in those cases). However, if wearing fur gets you off I have no problem with it and think you no less of a person.
  15. Silly lad, dead kings don't have lips!
  16. I have collected British coins from about the age of 14. My current interest is my George III type set. My (unfinished) George III type set.

    Oli and I...

Put another way, I fall just about where Tony Blair does on that test!

    Oli and I...

Neat test, I am 4 up and 4 to the right.

    Tea or coffee?

These differences could very well lead to war between Britain and America!

    Going to Euro...

I am not sure if I can use the F-word here, but I would vote F*** NO!!!! To me the Pound is sacred and should never be scrapped! If I had my way your country would bring back the old £/s/d. system, it worked fine for over 500 years after all. While I was at it (I might need to become king to swing this) I would move the mint back to Tower Hill and conduct a seance and ask Pistrucci and the Wyons what they would want done!

    Tea or coffee?

    Just sugar here thanks!

    What do you collect?

I deal in US coins and I am the buyer at the shop. I do sell some British coins on eBay and my website, but I would not really feel right about trying to sell stuff in Chris' space.
  23. Aethelred

    What do you collect?

The problem is that I am the dealer and he is a collector. I am going to be forced to give the first number!
  24. Even a good many hammered coins end up slabbed on this side of the pond. About 1/3 of my hammered coins are slabbed! I'll have to post some pics one of these days to crack you guys up a little!

    Tea or coffee?

Earl Grey is my tea of choice, but how on earth you Brits drink it with cream I'll never know!
