Here was me, quite happily following Mr Freeman's research and I accidently stumble down a Gouby rabbit hole with date widths of 1870 pennies. I have one (https://www.ngccoin.uk/certlookup/8464303-003/58/) with a 12 tooth date width, and another (much poorer condition) with a 13 tooth date width. I believe the 11 tooth is the "normal", the 11.5 tooth is very scarce(?) But what of the 12 and 13 tooth? Any additional value for these?

Plus it has other features - a dot next to 1 for example. Can't find any reference to that as a possible error.

If it helps, there is a lovely 1866 on ebay via auction at the moment that will be ending soon. I think it will be popular and far too expensive for me! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/326585667923

Obverse is most definitely a Freeman 4. Coin is an 1861, so reverse options would be D, F and G. 99% sure its not a G. Unfortunately I think the area around the shield where a rock could be is just too far gone, hence the reliance on the domed lighthouse, thicker plume and number of teeth between the top of the lighthouse and bottom of the O

Hi folks, I'm hoping for a few extra pairs of eyes in case I have a bit of confirmation bias going on. I believe this is a reverse F, but it is very worn!

Would anyone have up-to-date population figures on the 1860 Gouby A/B Freeman 1**+B (BP1860A/F763)? Last info I can find is from a 2020 auction where they are quoting 10 known examples

2+D IMO. No LCWyon on Obv 6. https://headsntails14.wordpress.com/victoria-bronze-obverses/ is a great resource

I was also watching that with interest. I am surprised, given the good reputation of the coin dealer selling it, that it either wasn't identified as, or indeed promoted as an F14. I actually commented to a fellow penny collector how surprised I was to find two on ebay at the same time in close succession.

I've given you access and will change the settings too. Speaking with another person who focuses on penny varieties, the knot in the bow would indicate it is just a plain old obv 1. The chances of it being anything else were slim to none really!

Actually, ignore me - done some more research, it is a 1. Let's call my consideration that it was a 1* confirmation bias...
