  1. Is there a possible connection between my raised dot 1911 penny with your raised dot 1919 penny ? Both dots are a similar size and appear to be in the same place adjacent to the date . Was the Royal Mint experimenting with die wear before the minting of the 1912H penny ?
  2. An unusual 1945 penny with an intriguing. ‘ elongated curved tooth ‘ below the 5 in the date . It seems to be part of the original coin and doesn’t appear to have been added on at a later date , …is it part of a number?

    1880 Penny

Hello there , I would like to ask the question ,is this a 1880 penny variety , Freeman 101dies 9 + L ? There appears to be a raised dot to the right of the date .

    1880 Penny

On closer examination, I would agree with both comments that sometime in the past some extraneous metal adhered to the surface of the coin . I don’t have access to the book by Freeman about British Penny varieties and given it could be a 9+L 1880 penny variety , has anyone an idea of its possible value please ?

    1911 penny

Hi there , just joined this forum . Whilst checking through my George V pennies I found a possible new variety , which is a 1911 penny with a raised dot just to the left of the date . I can’t see any evidence of tampering or altering of the coin . I would appreciate any opinions fellow members might have about the coin , thanks .
  6. Uploaded here is a possible 1962 penny variation , with the number 9 in the date having a truncated tail , there appears to be no tampering or altering of the number, opinions would be appreciated

    1911 penny

Maybe so, but there is wear on the raised dot similar to both the date alongside it and to the similar size official minted dots and lettering on the other side of the coin

    Possible Variety 1962 penny

I can’t see any obvious damage to the coin , the top of the number 9 and the top of the number 6 seem to be slightly closer to the Britannia base than in an ordinary 1962 penny . I intend to load up some more photos soon
