I took a look at the outer edge.....top & bottom holes drilled prized out of jewellery ? and you know even though you cant see them....I always know they are there. please do show some of your horrors and let downs......its good to share... π

1 Shilling George IV 2nd portrait; 3rd reverse with a common coin, condition is key, this would be the better of others I have, any suggestions as to this coin's grade ? I have posted another one that has a counterstamp which I find fascinating although its been dismissed by others I've shown . many thanks "H" -

Cheers, its been quite a journey working through all that I have with me, The William III I read...... " In 1696 a great re-coinage was undertaken to replace the hammered silver that made up most of the coinage in circulation, much of it being clipped and badly worn. Branch mints were set up at Bristol, Chester, Exeter, Norwich and York to help with the re-coinage" to be honest at the time I picked up coins that were Silver, very old, and Historically Interesting......that I failed to research....until now...!?!?! many thanks "H" -

More from the Hoard...... Half Crown 1700 William III 1st bust; modified large shields it has an odd grey tone to this, is this a common occurrence with coins from the 1700... or poor storage..... chucked in a box and shoved into a cupboard for 30 odd years....... sorry! -
I feel a bit more clued in with what's not British coins since being here, back in the days this was just considered like all the others and I beleved it was a groat...... and I didn't have the free time to be able to look into the coins. So Far........ it has a double headed Eagle and I can make out, MONE . NO . LVH on the reverse Cross on orb containing value 192 ? I found a similar coin that's a "Polker" and so could be possibly Polish? 10mm across if enough of the coin remains, any help (as always) greatly appreciated.
-
Hello Paddy...... laughingly this was probably why no one else picked it up as it was unrecognisable....I thought I was onto something as I saw a Polish Polker coin that looked similar..... one things for sure... my hoard is eclectic......enjoy. βΊοΈπ

Charles I, 12 Shillings Tower Mint with the cracks would this have happened if the silver hadn't been anneal prior to being hammered ?
-
I have been using http://www.psdetecting.com/ for all of the mint marks that relate to whoever is reigning, I use also Numista, this is a good place for additional details once a coin is identified, I also use https://www.rodblunt.com/ although I'm still learning and to much info to work through and can still be struggling. Being here is a great help, the guidance is greatly appreciated... once again many thanks "H"

as a comparison.. this is my Charles 1, Half Crown Tower London I see some confliction with the dates, one place has it as 1641-1643, another reads as 1639-1640, is there any go to references that are more accurate? I was always doubtful that this was genuine....until I've been looking into things... opinions welcome many thanks "H"

Hi Rob, Ive not had a Half Crown with a similar issue, this 12 shilling is my first, I didn't keep records of how much I paid for these back then but knowing me it wouldn't have been that much... Interesting to pick up on this information now in my days.... as I do recall that I did once consider getting rid of it as being un worth keeping ...... so pleased I did keep it..... many thanks for the input, π
