1887 ½ Crown - Victoria 2nd portrait Jubilee this is a better one I now have than before. I did pick up on the ridge on the edge, there's no bash to the outer edge I then took a closer look and the SOIT has another strike to the letter I & T.... is this a rarity ?

Ive not been interested in the Pennies...however this one was mixed in so why not show and join in, I know nothing other than its Bronze, 1877, theres a chunk missing by the letter R on outer edge....is this a mint fault? could this be a rare, valuable and scarce coin to behold??????? ok, over to you guys, all the very best "H" (uninterested in Pennies)
  8. I had a bit of a look around and found this on Numista you may be able to find more out about this medal.... A satirical medalet produced in 1830 to commemorate the appointment of Charles Grey, the second Earl Grey, as British Prime Minister. He retained that post from 1830 until 1834. The medal was made because the previous Prime Minister, the Duke of Wellington who had defeated Napolean Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, had refused to allow for the reform of the British Parliamentary system and had been forced to resign. Grey took his place in 1830 and his government passed the Reform Act of 1832 and abolished slavery throughout the British Empire the following year. all the best "H"
  9. Hello and once again thank you for adding me to the forum. Ive had coins for over 38 years and its been a mixture of well its old so of interest and give it to him to keep him quiet. a hoard was given from my mother that were her fathers, all very old, worn and even some were drilled. I took the worn out ones and had them appraised by local coin experts, sadly just scrap value, it was a hard day choice but sold off them and bought a sovereign coin, time moves of and i then added Guineas, these will be a show and tell later on. I hope this is for interest for today. I will show the 1 Scudo, I had no idea of when or how much.. it wouldn't have been that much in them days i do remember it was before computers so 1992 ish Sanctvs . Marc . Venet 1624-1629

Back to the top of this post 9th of Jan, I incorrectly listed these as 2 x Penny's Edward III 1327-1377....... Today I've found another of what I now think is a 1 Penny - Edward I, class 10? ( I have the dates as 1300-1310... other places I read it as in circulation 1301-1305 ?) long cross Pattee, or Potent ? please shout out if this different from the other one previously posted, from the collection point of view it would be nice to have one that's different. many thanks "H"

    3 Pence Hoard 1885 - 1919

Hello All, Today Ive moved away from my collection and thought Id show and tell some of my Grandfathers ....hoard. the story is my mother passed them on to me when i was 20 something it was my inheritance as Brother and sister borrowed money off Mother and never paid it back!!!!!!. I've never borrowed from her. The coins (grandfer's) were kept in a princess Mary's 1914 Xmas Tin, I've no Idea How or Why he started keeping these coins, there's no explanation from the family and these would have been currency when he was around using them.... unless he kept them as savings when currency was changing and the silver content involved? I have catalogued the 3 pence and its probably better to show the hoard as one lot.... please shout out if any particular dates would like to be seen? also here's the great debate. Do I consolidate with my coins or keep them separate and let the others deal with family history? Also.. what would be suggested as general value for a 3 pence? the grade is good some much better others not so... it wouldn't be fair to ask to value each individually. and Thank you advance, Ive also add a photo of the man in question, Frank Norris, RGA. 1884, 1885, 1890, 1895 x2, 1896, 1897, 1899, 1900 x2, 1907, 1908, 1912 x2, 1913, 1914 x3, 1915 x2, 1916 x15, 1917 x5 1918 x7, 1919 x6, ......... Qty 53 in all. All the very best Rgds "H"

    3 Pence Hoard 1885 - 1919

ahhhhh! this one also need to be explained... I found this one whilst sorting through the 3 pence's ...is this a stamp issue from the mint? the obverse seems fine apart from the area by the GE on the George ... be really interested to know why. cheers "H"

    3 Pence Hoard 1885 - 1919

So the time has moved on with the Hoard of 3 pence's.... from out of the 53 I found 21 are in respectable condition, interesting exercise and learning curve has been the grading process, having 6 of the same dated coin in the palm, remove ones that are gashed etc, turn over an compare portrait decide which is least rubbed, reject others and may the best man win and remains in the collection, now in date order in a folder it also illustrated I don't think it was ever intended as a collection, theses have been passed to me and do as you see fit.... so... why not fill in the gaps and pass on something respectable for the next generation.. the road to be taking.

    William I Penny, 1074-1077

William I, Penny Two Stars type 1074-1077 Obverse Crowned facing portrait between two stars, legend around. Script: Latin Lettering: + ǷILLEM REX AN Unabridged legend: Pillelm Rex Anglorum Translation: William King of the English Reverse Quadrilateral over cross with pellets, moneyer & mint name around. Script: Latin Lettering: + SIǷIORD ON ǷNCE Translation: Siward of Winchester Mints London, United Kingdom (650-1279) Winchester, England (871-1272) Comments Norman Kings (1066-1154), William I (the Conqueror)(1066-87), Silver penny, Two stars type. Numerous moneyer and mint name varieties exist. BMC#5 Duke William of Normandy claimed the throne of England on the death of his cousin Edward the Confessor. An important monetary reform occurred towards the close of the reign with the introduction of the geld de moneta assessed on boroughs. This may be seen as part of the raft of administrative reforms initiated by William I, which included the compilation of the Domesday Book in 1086. With great sadness its not owned by me.... does anyone on the forum have one in their collection? would be nice to see one... all the best "H"

Florins, Shillings and Misc .... on going sort out.

ahhhhhhhhhhhh! so that answers another coin question, I wasn't keen on keeping certain coins (such as this one) but as its explainable and as a talking point will add it to the "on hold" pile for now.... I'm keeping the Counterstamp coin as this is fascinating me although others see it devalued....

1922 florin (already shown Feb 8th) ....... this seems to have issues, on looking closer it looks like brass is eating through, I understood these are .500 silver..... could it be this is fake? is there an age reaction that happens?? or am I misunderstanding???
