    Hi :D

I've been playing with my camera

It depends on what you want the pictures for. If they are for personal use and identification purposes - no problem but if as material for selling then I agree with Stechlin. As I have no intension of selling my coins I use Paintshop Pro frequently. If I need to sell I can always re Photograph!

    Technical Update

Unfortunately, like the common cold, it's something that will be with us until some boffin comes up with a cure. Sadly not in the foreseeable future.

    Technical Update

You're not the only site to be targeted. The other two I use have been too. It seems to be a sudden concerted effort for some inane reason. Hope your new arrangemet work!
  7. Welcome, Yorky! Yes there are a number of Hammered nuts on this forum, though you're right, Most of the posts are about milled but there are always Hammered enthusiasts lurking in the background, ready to pounce - just like Clive!!

One for you Chris! Found this in a quantity of dross in a car boot sale. It appears to be a town issue? Was that usual? Nothing in Krause (not surprising). Any info?

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I wonder which chemicals they used?
  10. A bit late for me, but I'll do that next time
  11. This reared its head again lately. I was pleased with the coin, but the postage, normal internal UK, was quoted as £5. I tried to give neutral feedback and stated I thought the postage excessive, but fleebay insisted on a 'dispute' and would not allow the feedback to stand. Anyway, as it happens, I was OK with the overall price but objected to 'positive feedback' so I've just not sent any! So it appears the practice is widespread and condoned by ebay!

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Perhaps some charitable person could send them an old copy of Spinks (or even Seaby's)

    German 1918

Thanks, Stechlin, but my German is sketchy at best, being the sort used by servicemen after a 3 year tour of the country (that the family all enjoyed enough to return as often as possible). Babelfish cannot translate as it is in the old script. I'll eventually get the gist with use of a German/English dictionary - but it will take me months! The exercise will be interesting, though and I did manage an old news article in an old paper found in one of the houses in which we lodged. The auction sites linked above are really interesting and "I shall return" to quote a Yank

Thanks for the links! I still can't find one of the same type. I presume it is a 10 pfennig, although the legend states 'KLEINGELDERSATZMARKE'. I must try to get to Bingen if I repeat my tours, by car, of Germany. It could be another collection to pursue in the future!

The date, of course, would be a time of turmoil and I was wondering if there was any attempt to resurrect the old divisions of the states?
  18. I find it somewhat disturbing that that sort of statement is seen as good. Why are we in constant confrontation, something like the sqabbles in a kindergarden playground

    Hobbies, Other Interests

I've just realised I didn't specify my main 'non-coin' hobby in my last post! It's art, painting, drawing and anything of that ilk. My link in my signature will show you the sort of thing!

    Whats your oldest coin?

I suppose this Cast Celtic Potin coin is my oldest though I can't tell you much about it except it probably started life in Gaul around 1st century BC. EA crude face on one side and a pattern of circles on the other. Reputably found in one of the southern counties of England.

    Coins of the British Empire

Thanks all! As for our local library getting Kraus - I really doubt it! I've had trouble getting common books from them.
