Just what gives you the highest thrill in numismatics? Mine is finding a coin that has been incorrectly identified, even if I can't obtain it, and being able to investigate and allocate with certainty. It is, more often than not, among the hammered coins of the medieval times. It happens often enough to keep me happy!!

I prefer German or Spanish. They make more sense!

What's your Buzz?

I have to add, buying a "lot" of coins - finding rubbish- but then three very interesting ones that will keep me researching for weeks! -
I'm still uncomfortable with "Gay". 'A batchelor gay' was just happy not homosexual!

I am still in the dark about transfering pictures of coins from my "my pictures" site to posts on forums. At present I have to use Omnicoin, not always the best idea, as I am not interested in telling the world what I'm about! So can one of the 'forum boffins' make any suggestions?( besides "Get lost")
-
Sorry about that! It has no bearing on the degrading of our society, as I see it. I sometimes think that more discipline in the home and school would have produced a more erudite generation.

Thanks! kuhli, a lot clearer now that all you fellows have have tutored me! I needed that I realise my problems all come about because of my using Word to produce and store the record of all my coins. I'll have to think of an intermediate step in future. -
Makes you wonder why we bothered in 1939-45. I don't suppose Hitler would have allowed it to happen.

Thanks Oli. Done. But I'm sure there must be a way to transfer pictures direct into posts? Oh! for 'cut & paste' to work! How much simpler. -
Someone took my ID over!

Just a homosexual website! But it has been eliminated from the forum now, thank goodness! -
Sorry about the hiccough!

OK! So I'm a bit slow. I can't, for the life of me, remember how to get a coin picture from "my pictures" on the hard drive, to any topic on the forum. I'll probably say Stupid - of course" when told, but please jog my memory!

1999 Coincraft and 2004 Spinks are all I use and can't see the point of updating - I never take any notice of the prices anyway and have no interest inthe modern stuff!

Give him some shoulders!

It's a pity the coin is so poor as the first to show a commoner. It's the only one I'd reccomend enamelling! -
QE2 crowns - still legal tender?
Geordie582 replied to a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
You do get the £5's in change, I got one in Tescos, but I haven't had a crown, except at car boot sales when they expect £1 each! -

More likely he has a good buffing machine and the photography can hide a multitude of sins. -
I remember in my days as an RAF apprentice, that it was the going thing to manufacture these, and double tails during "workshops". The competition was to have the most perfect example. Good fun at the time, but, as poorly paid as we were, many of them were spent before the next pay day!

Has anyone else had dealings with this American firm? I bought a pocket scale from them on 4th August and it arrived OK on the 9th. But it did not work. Numerous attempts, following the scant directions, proved fruitless. Since then I've emailed them eight times - it appears I need an RMA number from them before they will replace the item. I've even had an email from another user suggesting a cure, again without success. I am still awaiting the magic RMA number so I can return the beast! I'm beginning to wonder if the firm is legit? Any thoughts?
-
The problem has been solved! There were two sources in the USA and they were working in isolation, but now I have an accurate scale, thank the Lord!!! The whole thing was due to my misreading the address and going to the wrong one! Mea culpa
-
Thanks Rob! I did contact the vendor who just put me on to the "customer service department" of the manufacturer who were supposed to send a RMA number so that I could return the thing for repair. They didn't. As I want a servicable scale and not a refund, I don't intend to pursue the financial aspect. In any case as the thing was bought on an e-bay auction for £1.50, the main cost being the postage of £9.50 I would think the vendor has covered himself. I thought e-bay was going to stop that practice? I'll try one last shot at the vendor and see what developes!

Who can fathom the thinking of our cousins across the pond to account for their actions? Logic doesn't come into it! Think of the boost to the coin market if these were available!
