"I've got a list of Principle Roman Emperors AD 41-420.....and how they met their fate....wierd lot. " If you want weird, try the Byzantine lot! They might be Roman in descent but they improved the art of evil and weird to a great extent!

You can't put a kid down for trying!

Is that 6p yours? I'm jealous

Congratulations! But try not to end up as one of those taxi drivers and dustmen you find with firsts! -
I've printed out the list of purchasers and will use it as reference. perhaps other members should do the same!

The groat was first introduced in the reign of EdwardI (1272-1307) copying the french 'gros'. It appeared sporadically after then, still being produced today in maundy money.

I find it a good synopsis of individual country's coinage but the omissions are puzzling!

As all coin collectors, I 'attract' various foreign coins from boot sales. junk shops and the like. This little copper intregued me as it has no country stated. I guess it's scandinavian, but trawling through Krause and Reinfeld books I can't find even one like it. Maybe I'm just missing it. Can you help? http://www.omnicoin.com/coins/899504.jpg

I've got to admit to having all the to-date issued State Quarters! But I was in Texas and there wasn't many hammered silver about!

Tell him to drill a hole in it and hang it around his neck - tightly! -
I meant suspiciously perfectly preserved!
-
Suspiciously "uncirculated"? Sorry, I'm a sceptic of all hammered in this condition
-

The slabbing debate
Geordie582 replied to Sylvester's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I disagree! With the wealth of reference material available, it is very difficult to produce a convincing forgery - hence the collectors of counterfeits! -
Thanks Chris! It's surprising what you come across when "ratching"!!
-
So Holland, not Dutch East Indies? I've added a couple of more coins from the batch. The rest are post war.
-
I'm always suspicious of "pretty" coins. There's so much you can do with a chemistry set!

Thanks Chris - I get their literature. I like to keep up to date with coins being produced, though I admit I have to wade through some tacky rubbish most of the time!
