  1. If in doubt, try Chrome as a browser instead.

    unidentified hammered coin, please help?

Looks very crude from the blurry photos above. Intrigued to find out more.

    unidentified hammered coin, please help?

Not a hammered coin but likely a medieval/post-medieval token: http://finds.org.uk/database/images/index/q/lead+token

    Cnut penny

You're only missing the naivity of eBay buyers.
  9. I've bought a couple over the years but have bought mainly books from them and wouldn't hesitate in recommending them to anyone. Very friendly and trustworthy people, in my opinion.

    looking for book

Are you interested in Arabic coins in general or is there a more specific aspect you intend to focus upon? I can send you a bibliography more focused towards examining them in Viking contexts if you so wish.

    best places to buy coins

There's Cambridge Coins that isn't in Cambridge...or Cambridgeshire... But it is close, just over in Bedfordshire. Then there's Gannochy Coins, but I wouldn't recommend them as the two times I've been in there I've been treated rather rudely - it's pretty central in Cambridge, not far from Sidney Street Sainsbury's in the back corner of a cycle shop. There's also Cambridgeshire Coins which I've no dealings with so do not know what they're like.

    Bloomin' gorgeous.

    Elizabeth 6d 2overPoverP?

Late to the party but I do agree that it looks to be a 2.

    Happy Birthday Paulus

    A belated birthday, sir!
  18. Hmm. Thought the seller looked familiar... Looks like me deliberately buying the first fake didn't help stem things as this is now three from the same seller.
  19. Can't believe I missed out this - that'll teach me to take a leave of absence.

Rare but holed Charles Exeter shilling

I'd be careful about sending this coin to be repaired to the States as I'd not be satisfied that they have enough experience repairing hammered coins. There are a few people in the UK who have done good jobs - it might be worth talking to a few dealers about this first.

Can Anyone ID this for me?

A large proportion of medieval markets were on beaches. Always a good place to scout a hammy.

    Edward 1st Farthing

That's an aVF in my book and worth far more than £300...

    Help with hammered silver penny

This looks to be a class 10cf2 penny. It's technically Edward II but most references class it as Edward I. The obverse legend reads: "+EDWA R ANGL DNS HYB".

    Pobjoy Mint

I must admit their bullion can be attractive, but I still wouldn't purchase it for myself unless cheap.
