Glad to see he's followed the rule we try to abide by: "This coin has not been cleaned."

You just wait until you get the wine ones! Personally, I prefer to drink mine rather than look at pictures. -
I thought you were going to say you got this from Warwick & Warwick!

I don't bother bidding at all unless I'm in London. The software is totally flawed. Sigh. -
'Medieval' coin.

Unidentified shortcross halfpenny...

As Richard says, most likely +AIMER: ON: LVNDE. The moneyer and double-barred obverse N suggests Richard I, class 3. -
Henry III Halfpenny
HistoricCoinage replied to Mr_Stephen's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
The reverse of your piece reads RIO NLV with the N and L ligated. Perhaps a class Vb. Hard to tell with the absence of the crown or eyes. -
I've offered him £100, do you think that's enough? I think something's fishy about the listing...perhaps the postage that looks too cheap?
-
He has relisted it.The original description was CELTIC :D I did tell him what he had and the value would be approx cut 1d (a few £) Not tempted to have a punt, Peter? I'll tell you what, make him an offer he can't refuse!

Very Good Condition.

Who knows. But I could certainly part with a few pennies at that price!

£132 for a Gloucester penny? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HENRY-III-HAMMERED-SILVER-LONG-CROSS-PENNY-COIN-1216-72-AD-/271166061491?_trksid=p2047675.l2557&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&nma=true&si=bRJnZbDLLwaWhcuExkbHMMzGZjE%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc

I saw this and thought the same. Also, it appears that Edward was a fan of Twitter as it's got a lovely hashtag on the obverse, too. Shame.

Another Edward. Unknown Mint.
HistoricCoinage replied to Mr_Stephen's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Do you mean specific in terms of the reading of the mint? If you mean in terms of class, then yes, unfortunately the photograph does make things difficult. -
Penultimate(!) Edward. London mint.
HistoricCoinage replied to Mr_Stephen's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Edward I, very hard to tell with the portrait but looks akin to a class 3 variant. -
The final Edward (Durham)
HistoricCoinage replied to Mr_Stephen's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Edward III - will need better images to narrow it down. Nice, clear reverse. -
Another Edward. Unknown Mint.

It's an Edward I London penny. CIVI TAS LON DON - starting at 3 O'clock with the orientation of your image. Hope this helps. -
An unidentified longcross
HistoricCoinage replied to Mr_Stephen's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Well, it's hard to tell from the photos but I've seen similar examples that are definitely genuine. Sometimes it's just the debasement. -
Trouble with Edwards #1
HistoricCoinage replied to Mr_Stephen's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
What is the diameter of this piece? It looks more like an Edward I farthing - something like a class 10. -
A York Edward...
HistoricCoinage replied to Mr_Stephen's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Edward III, pre-treaty period, York Royal issue. Perhaps series E.
