Nice acquisition Gary! As for CoinEx, the only time I went I was utterly disappointed by the overly commercialised stock and so vowed never to return. The London Coin Fair is far superior in my opinion.

The reverse on this is very good, I'd say that the reverse is a good VF whereas the obverse, like many Lizzies, is almost VF. I think that the coin is better than the photos suggest and so would give it a VF grade in my opinion. The problems experienced with the Elizabeth I Sixpences and Shillings always seems to be the wear on the portrait. This is probably due to the relief and so I very rarely see Sixpences with superb portraits which is a shame, the Shillings fare slightly better in this respect. Kindest Regards, Clive.

After offering it to us for £70 he seems to have listed it as BIN for £50 and it didn't sell. I believe that he then re-listed it and achieved £45.

Just looks like a clogged die. If it was overflow then the metal would normally be quite even but this one seems quite rough. Interesting error nonetheless!

The posties in my area are brilliant. Nearly every day I get at least one "Signed For" package and so they are pretty used to dealing with it all now. Never had one go missing, although did have one go missing for 27 days in late June/early July. Otherwise RM have been pretty spot-on regarding their service. It's just the strikes and their parcel services which I have a problem with... Not to mention that their maximum compensation limit for sending abroad is only £500 per package.

Private is the way to go apart from emergency treatment and GPs as far as I'm concerned. Private surgeons, dentists, opticians, physiotherapists et cetera all rate highly with myself. Higher quality service and a more rapid turn-around is what I'm after. After all, it is our health we're talking about... I look forward to seeing what others' opinions entail.

I do feel that the NHS is a wonderful thing and I am most grateful for their emergency treatment and A&E services which I have used countless times in the past few years for a plethora of reasons. However, I am not content with the general service which it offers and so pay for private healthcare too which I have used in order to save up to six months of waiting time on various treatments and procedures. What I thought was absolutely ridiculous was that some of the various equipment which I've been involved with in the private sector is owned by the NHS. So the private sector are essentially leasing taxpayer's property... The NHS, as Colin says, has been backlogged by paperwork, political correctness and poaching of staff for the private sector. I have had one major bad experience with the NHS which a lawyer friend of mine has told me that I could have sued them for a considerable sum. However, what is the point of suing the NHS when they are in so much debt as it is and I am, dare I say it, grateful for what it has provided so far? I just think that it needs a complete overhaul to ensure that its standards rise rather than deteriorate. I do think that this Swine Flu business will show the NHS's true colours in terms of organisation and cooperation, so far they've done quite well as far as the media portrayal shows. So, all in all, I do like the British plan but it is in such a state that it requires a lot of TLC.

I wouldn't hold it with those pointy tweezers!!! Scratches could reduce the value of a coin drastically, even if only a modern 20 pence piece.

I would certainly recommend this book to anyone interested in the area of collecting as it offers an exceptionally useful guide to identifying the plethora of varieties out there. All in all a great book, well done Dave!

Well, the condition of yours is quite poor. So I would not expect much at all, maybe a pound or two, if that.

Looks to be this: 1789 'Cronebane' Halfpenny. The obverse reads CRONEBANE HALFPENNY around the bishop. The reverse reads ASSOCIATED IRISH MINE COMPANY around a coat of arms. The edge should read PAYABLE AT CRONEBANE LODGE.
