    Chavs!

I don't think we have any in MY area - Ha!, Ha! Nice to meet you Oli, at last !
  2. What does one do with half a dozen one penny Cartwheels which are so worn that only their size gives them away ?? It seems such a shame to just 'bin' them, knowing they have been around for so many years. At the moment they are kept in an old cotton bag, along with a few other 'useless' sentimental old coins !!

    My new web site

Hi Mitch, I am now your l00 + ? visitor. I am new to collecting and get very lost in the experts' terminolagy' although I find it interesting and trying to understand most of what I read. Great site for total beginnners - down to earth language, even for children. By the way, I am collecting mainly pre-decimal and decimal English coins. Will watch progress with your site.

    My first 2004 £1

I've received several 1988's in my change, but 1998 is my problem. I just need one 50p and a couple of 10p's to complete my current currency. Still need a few of the bigger 50p, 10p and 5p's, but I've only been looking for a couple of months. I do know the grandchildren have some in their toy boxes !! - so it might cost me a lot to exchange them !!!

    Right, I need a favour!

Spotted in Worthing, West Sussex, branch. I haven't been out much yet to look further (Sad, isn't it ?) The other shop was in Brighton. I don't know his proper details yet. Only just getting to know him. Only second time I have been there, but spending quite a bit of money setting up my collection housing and buying a few odd coins from him. Will let you know his details and any more I can come across in the near future.

    Right, I need a favour!

Hi there - today's encounter - It was like meeting an old friend, sat between a COIN Yearbook and a Stanley Gibbons, there was a CCGB 2005 ! I quietly thought - "YES" - Well done Chris (and the rest of us ?), it's finally reached the South Coast in W.H.Smith. I've had a word with a chap in a shop in our biggest neighbouring town, who stocks a variety of coin books. He seemed interested, but I forgot to take mine this time. I'll see him again in about a month, after my winter hols. He could have contacts.

    My first 2004 £1

I don't get to use 'proper money' much, but have received several 2004 £1 coins in my change. I wonder if different areas of the country make an impact on the numbers ?

    Whats your oldest coin book?

Welcome Martyn - sounds like you & Chris will get on well - hopefully good business. I am VERY new to coin collecting, but strange thing is, I was looking at your website yesterday. I only have a December 'Coin News' and your advert. is just above Predecimal's Good Luck both of you.

    2005 Sovereigns

With regard difference in years between male & female partners - I agree with 'Unknown'. Nine years is just about right !! - I'll say no more !!?? With regard to the design on the 2005 Sovereign. I wonder just how many people would appreciate wearing this design in jewellery (I hear you say "Tut, tut"). Just think how many rings, pendants, etc., have been proudly worn in the traditional design. I have to own up to owning a ring, which I enjoy wearing (O.K., seems SAD now I am collecting coins !), but I wouldn't really appreciate the 2005 design.

    New Beginnings

Hello everyone ... Just to say I am just beginning retirement, just beginning to learn about computers, and just beginning a new hobby collecting coins. Having a great time doing all three - just beginning to join in the Forum, after visiting and looking through several times. What an interesting site. As a complete beginner I have found so many aspects useful. I will probably be asking questions at some point, but have to work out the scanner to the site first !! My first objective was to tackle W.H.Smith, as Chris requested, but at this point, not much response. I have inherited a mixed bag of old British coins, some rather interesting, which I am adding to, along with some foreign ones. Getting excited at some I haven't seen before, and looking forward to a busy retirement !!!

    Coin Shows

5th of February could have been my first visit to a coin fair as London is nearest for me. Could have made it a good weekend. But, alas, I will be out of the country at that time. Sunshine is calling !!

    New Beginnings

Thanks for the 'Linky' Emperor Oli - very interesting. Master Jmd - I'm only going back to 1821 (one or two coins before that date), but Ancient is beyond me, although I can appreciate the beauty of the coins.

    My plans....

Hi, My 'plan' is to fill as many spaces as I can for as little cost as I can !! Each coin, each year as far as poss. In a couple of months I have almost completed the decimals (not difficult there !) I am going back to 1821 wherever possible, not too particular about grading, as my collection is more for fun than 'serious' (can't afford serious). As long as I can read the dates, and fair bit of detail, I'm happy. My parents have started me off with a handful of each coin. Only two groats, though, so I have quite a few to start with. Now learning from CCGB 2005 what I'm not likely to find. I have to also admit to collecting Euros (well, I'm going to now), as I go abroad at least twice a year and find so many different ones in the change. I've got quite a few left from last holiday, but didn't appreciate then how many there are.

    New Beginnings

Welcome Millimoo, I'm fairly new to the forum as well. Very new to coin collecting, but don't really intend going back as far as you. You might have been looking into the forum and learnt about some of these guys. They are a great bunch, very helpful if you get stuck. I'm learning from them all the time !!

    2004 £1

I'm still looking out for a 1998 £l. some hope ? Is there a 2004 50p, other than the 4-minute mile one ? What do you guys think about the briges ? I rather like them for a change. Can't say I like the 2003 £5., nor the 2005 50p. Have you any suggestions lined up for the British Euro ??
