  1. If it is 22mm dia it is a 1st issue George 1V dated between 1821-26
  2. If the date is on the reverse it will be between 1860-99...however these are bronze farthings and 20mm dia. The early Victoria farthings are copper and 22mm with the date on the obverse. Some of George 1V farthings have the date on the reverse and are 22mm. There are rarer dates and neigh impossible dates but if yours is in poor condition it will not be sought by collectors and really is just a bit of history.

    "CGS comes of age"

It would be a great test to send your CGS graded coins (cracked out) to PCGS. Then we might get a comparison. It is a bit like my favoured dealers.I do build a factor in.
  6. It was the time when copies of "Check your change" were in most homes. Rarer dates were sifted into the back of drawers.Hence there are so many fair H & KN's about.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I bet everyone on here has one. Mine was bought 20 years ago.
  13. The size and weight would tell you whether it was gold or even a simple trip to the man on the market who buys gold would of done this FOC with his potions. I believe with out being slabbed it would of generated more on Ebay as a raw coin. Yes - if you review the thread I new it was gold before sending it to CGS. The reason for sending it to CGS was that there was much sceptisism on this Forum that it was a fake! Kevin So now it's been established as authentic, although field damaged, - any thoughts on value? Kevin You would get £400+ on Ebay My last guinea cost me £112 and my half guinea £50 plus my BU SA 1928 sov was £60. There are a few nice farthings there.
  14. I've been raped on common dated unc 1d's for a couple of £. I've also scored a few

Colchester MD holidays have a great reputation. Finds look great. Sometimes you can search and find diddly.A bit like my experiences with beach fishing.I still do both and will continue. It is like tracking down THAT coin you want.

    CGS - A customer-facing business?

Bob I would love it but we have a 20% population of the US and much lesser spending money. We still have a history and the ability to find 2,000 year old coins in the next field.
