Hi Nicky Seasons greetings to you. Try various google searches. Keep entering hobbit coins and lord of the rings into the main coin Ebay search. Good luck Be patient.

Lets have a predecimal fund and buy the coin. Get it slabbed by PCGS and see what it could get at Heritage. It would be a good experiment. If they don't give it MS65 I would be shocked. Hey this could be a good business plan. Andy Bruce once tried to raise funds on a scheme where the risk is shared on premier coins. I do think there are enough experts on the forum to give this a go for minimum risk.

Heritage Auctions - Victoria young head crown
Peter replied to paulfrasercollectibles's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Why is it worth more than melt? What absolute fools. -
They are here to stay. I always just buy the coin.Another thread I read last night was a US chap buying up ColinCookes George V1 farthings (several in top grade of each date)submitting the best to get better than MS64. So we have a £4 coin being slabbed for £15. Surely still only worth £4?

The major USA TPG companies offer a cleaning service prior to slabbing
-
They are not the only ones guilty of this.

I must have a few 70's then IMO the £150 MS63 is far superior.

A little bit too much, if you ask me. Thanks for the link, though. Clive Email CDESTEVE he buys and sell all the tat...trouble is he buys from my link. No one who is a collector would sit on that quantity of crap.I cleared out about 20kg of crap lurking in my loft last year.Blame me for a raft of crap on Ebay....at a car boot the bloke I sold to was quite exited and the sum I received bought lunch on the way home. If you want 1000 6d's that will be the going rate. I've bought rolls of BU pre decimal copper and post decimal stuff.I struggle to know what to do with these....up the loft.

Reverse is better. It is in a grade where it could bomb either way.
-
Nicely toned. I bet you have a pug at your feet that is a handsome dog.
-
What ever MS I wouldn't want it.It just a poorish obverse strike with awful tone.
-
I'll stick with MS63 but I don't personally don't like the toning so as far as I'm concerned its off my radar.
-
Not an expert on 6d's but I can't see wear...weak strike on the crown. I would need to see the obverse. What I can see gives MS63
-
I reckon Clive has got an idea for a promotion viz Buy a Saxon 1D and get a 6D free.

Absolute sham. All we can do is name and shame anyone who tries to pass these off. On another forum a TPG company was being blamed for slabbing a fake...it turn out the slab was fake too. -

It is quite a difficult site to navigate but I found 1822 crowns and Northumberland shillings. -

Looking on another forum Alibaba.com were being discussed. I had a look at the coin section and there is the source for the fakes swamping the market.Disgracefull. -
Again. Why did CGS slab this crap? It is a coin worth less than £1.Why didn't they just say it is a pile of CRAP and not worth slabbing. It makes them and the seller looking complete idiots. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1915-GEORGE-V-FARTHING-CGS-VF45-/190755678959?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item2c69ecaaef

Peter replied to scott's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
That is obvious. Once varieties are published and accepted it creates demand. -
