Top poster Have a good day.You are 7 years my junior but 2005 seems like yesterday.
  5. A bit longer you could fit a coffin in there. My only experience of eating Chinese in Germany was the huge portion size.
  6. Excellent examples and great to see. Thanks and keep it up.

    Lockdales!

The lack of farthings was surprising. Estimates were about right to get bidders. I love watching on the internet but feel the room is the place to be.
  8. I take fallen wood for my fire basket which at this time of the year gets a lot of use.Nothing better than sitting around a roaring fire a belly full of food and a bit of firewater.

    Lockdales!

i once lived with a girl from glasgeeee who was half jock half italian........most days saw the plates were thrown at the walls or floor.......now thats an expensive breed. How did you understand each other ski, sign language? Peter what makes you think i bought the 60 shilling? Did you?
  10. I suppose I'm a bit feral. I trap crayfish without a licence.I poach trout. My father in Law (RIP) taught me how to snare rabbits.I fish and shrimp from the beach and my dog springs for local hunts. I wouldn't change this for anything. The joys of Suffolk life.
  11. Clive I converted a "window cleaner nighthawk" We bought our Springer off him and as part of the deal I I'd a load of Nighthawk coins. I put them in 2" flips. I put some books in front of him, explained the importance of our history and we are still talking 3 years later. I believe he still nighthawks but puts stuff beneath my nose before putting on Ebay as "hammered old coin" He actually keeps some nicer examples and is learning fast. Times are hard and a nighthawked £50 coin is good to feed his family.
  12. So many hammered are coming out of the ground.A hoard hits the market and Whoopie. I notice a lot of the 50,000 Brussels hoard are hitting the market. They are no good in a museum vault but need to be discussed amongst collectors. I collect for the beauty and history.Maybe treasure hunters/detectorist's (there is a difference)historians, collectors, archeologists need to get together for a big hug.

I also hanker over Bury St Edmunds mint as that is where I was born. I also look for Thetford,Ipswich,Norwich being an East Anglian....My wife calls me Packie Pete because 2 weeks on a Greek Island I tan up a bit and many locals speak to me thinking I have pulled a white English Rose...it is only Mrs Peter. She is half Irish though.....expensive breed

Credit on you Dave. I liked the 60 shillings. He is one that needs a 10lb cod smacked into his chops.A complete Nomark,Roy,Muppetry, fraudster, shiller,TWAT. Sigh.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Surprised the Yanks didn't give it Fine and listed it as a shilling. Actually I have a few NGC/PCGS slabs which I haven't broken out.Maybe one day. Once they get post MS63 the coins are usually OK A/UNC UNCish. What I do notice NGC/PCGS are grading brand new coins...FFS go to the bank. Talk about the tail wagging the dog.

Dave You are buying hammered and Roman then? On another subject that idiot on Coin community is a t*at and needs t*atting. He must be incognito with the fraudster. Lockdales is only about 25 miles away from me so I might disappear for a few hours tomorrow. Not much was going to the internet. I have bought from them before. They seem customer focused and nice knowledgeable people.

That would stand out as UNC in your collection. Only kidding Scott.I agree with you.It is a very nice (but less than fine) The wear on the central reverse spoils it. I would buy it on a whim for £30. Post note...bloody hell it is £44 with 2 hrs to go.

Quite frankly they had very few coins that suited me.I was more interested in the military stuff. I have a flintlock holster pistol,bayonets,WW1 shell casings and trench art etc

I was watching. Exiting stuff...Be warned
  20. Cuts go on eye appeal. If you get a good pair of eyes and a crown....and a hint of the mint/monyer happy days
  21. Peck put the Scrumpy down Some of the Pre 12C coins are so nibbled so a nice cut half suffices me. They were used coins. I have picked up bargains...ID'd one and paid for a few better ones. It is a no brainer for an addict like me....HIC
  22. If it can be ID'd much more.It is an important piece of history.A cut coin with good detail I go for. Bargains can be had.I've seen cut groats. I have halves and quarters in my collection they hone the eye in ID'ing.
