On the subject of fishing a record pike 55lbs was taken out of the syndicate lakes. It lived on 1lb trout that are put in on a regular basis.I was sworn to secrecy.I saw it.

    Heritage Auctions

The system appeared to work well. I held the winning bid prior to the 'live' session this evening, during which no further bids were made. The maximum proxy bid I'd entered for the live session was $200 higher but, in the absence of any further bids, this additional cash was not used. It's nice to see that Heritage don't take bids 'off the wall' (not that I would expect that) and I only paid the minimum required to win the auction. Hopefully the coin will arrive ok. I'm sure it will.Amazing coins have been through their books.

Yes lets get back to busts and reverse's and thrupenny bits. I think the Germans went through a period last century of having a cabbage on the obverse.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

oh dear..there will be tears. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&item=180962267520&nma=true&rt=nc&si=ZXtscHMgklN9SD2f3cmiCqImrsI%253D&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_500wt_1288
  9. Could be interesting but, as always, close-ups with better images are needed, especially with a coin that's low-grade. Could be a 'T' ?TERITVS or any of a number of possibilities. There appears to be a second leg (?shadow) where the 'T' (as in fourth letter) should be, suggesting other potential rotational variables. You're going to have to start experimenting with the macro settings on your compact. firstly thanks for all input.ive taken another scan and lightened it as much as i can.also scanned it from a different angle.to me it now looks like an I over T Hi Del I think Rob is right about the quality control of early copper.I've got hundreds of the same date and they tend to differ.Even Colin Cooke never got to the bottom of it.

Low feedback too! Perhaps they don't know what they've got! A 60p coin as it is the postage & envelope cost

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

I think we all make good and bad buys.I will always start sales at 99p. Some Ebay sellers are now blocked from my searches(thanks Declan )
  12. Dave you will not be disappointed. Just wonder how many UXBs i can find in Munich. They found one 2 weeks ago not far from me, they had to blow it up and the cost for the damage was around €4,000,000 lol It is worth watching the DVD and do plenty of experiments with different metals. Research into the local area is the key....keep off the UK/US bombs

I was always astounded when I would receive a hand written letter with my £20 order from the farthing specialist when I was a young lad.It somehow made me respect the coin fraternity.Several dealers at the Midland let me have free range to their trays. There are a few idiots on Ebay but they are not usually full time coin dealers.
  15. Can't help wondering if this is part of that strange phenomemon associated with the internet where people seem to get overly aggressive and abusive at a distance, yet are mild mannered face to face. Forums are littered with such examples. On the PCGS forum the world coins section is always praised for being a haven of civility, whereas the US section is usually mentioned for being its antithesis. There was road rage and now internet rage. It is easy to get angry...I do make an effort to chill....has your partner ever tried to argue?I just say I love you and I'm so lucky to be with you...now make me a cuppa.

I love the trust once you are known.I simply wouldn't consider abusing trust. There is nothing worse than a dealer acting like a hawk as you look at some trays. Baldwin's sounded like heaven on earth.
