A follow on would be a book on grading.(incidentally published by a forum member) We have several dealers on this forum none of whom will sell you short. Pete's suggestion of searching the forum will keep you busy.- 28 replies

Hi Sophie Welcome to the forum.Your sticky coins can be sorted by a quick soak in pure acetone (not nail varnish remover) easily found cheaply on ebay. After a soak a quick flush in distilled water then rest on kitchen roll to aid a dry.The acetone will de gunk your coins with no other harm. 2x2 self adhesive flips are great for storing run of the mill coins. You can also get album sheets which take 2x2 flips. A great little book for British coins is Collectors coins GB published by Chris Perkins (the owner of this site). Spinks coin book is another great resource. The 2018 edition is now due but you can buy earlier copies very cheaply.Try Amazon.I update my Spink about every 3 or 4 years. These are great little albums. You can probably get them cheaper if you search around. .http://www.arrowfile.com/coin-holder-wallet-for-60-coins-prodckbl/?language=en¤cy=GBP&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIi8bR-_P01wIVpLDtCh3Osg0fEAQYBCABEgLSbfD_BwE I don't know where you are based but a trip to the Midland or Wakefield monthly coin fairs will open your eyes (google both) Walk before you run,set up a spread sheet for your records and enjoy. We're all here to help and there is not a thing called a silly question. We all started out green. Enjoy the 24/7 hobby.- 28 replies

Coin Cabinet
Peter replied to hibernianscribe's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
A couple of ebay sellers (Forestgold and smokerings) make bespoke coin cabinets.(I have bought from both) They have the skills that may assist you. -
Welcome Thazz, I reckon your best bet would be the monthly Midland fair held at the NEC bike museum. It is the 2nd Sunday of every month and IMO the best in the country.I travel up 3 or 4 times a year from Bury St Edmunds or if feeling flush travel up on the Saturday and stay overnight. The next one is 10th Dec.However cash is king

Brilliant news Pete....just a query on your sanity.

i gouged a 1695 farthing....I managed to invert my boot to give me a damn good kicking. Not to be recommended as my boots are size 10 and Betty Swallocks hang in the way. -
the postage will not be far off that.Get the fat wallet out and buy at sensible prices.
-
Looks OK to me but a bit too heavy on the price. John is an ex cop and like able internet bud.He says as he sees it.He fishes, smokes cuban cigars and likes football....welll Newcastle.
-
The 1ST coin at max is a GVF.Bit of a lottery and one company who will never get my business.I saw them put a 1865 farthing in a slab which conveniently covered up a massive edge knock. They can do one.

Stu his site Petitioncrowns will give an insight to Geoff. It humbles my collection. He will & be dearly missed. He told me that he once sold his house to buy a coin that he had to have. Hopefully he can find Mrs Peter in heaven to prove I'm not the only coin nerd on the planet.
