  2. What about this for grading. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/George-11-Half-Penny-Dated-1746-VF-EF-Condition-/221031256905?pt=UK_Coins_BritishMilled_RL&hash=item33767d5349#ht_500wt_1287
  3. Detector finds are often barrelled this tends to wear detail. There good and bad coins found with a detector. Some coins do get plough damage. It does help to be able to ID the coins.
  4. Welcome to the forum. There are many classes and mints for Henry longcross 1d's. Your coin is very worn with little to go on.I can't see a sceptre.A good book for IDing hammered is England's striking history. Sorry I can't be off more help.
  5. The obverse appears to be a very weak strike. I can't believe PCGS graded this.
  6. Another newbie here John. Can I have a goody bag of UNC 18C farthings The £2 is on its way to the air ambulance.
  7. Trouble is smoke and have a liver problem you might get an extra few £. My coins and bits will not be taxable.
  8. Gary Put your hard earned money away.I am in the age bracket that means I won't get state pension until I'm 68.Why haven't we had riots about this? I had 100k in my pension fund which became 60k in 2008.I've never had debt (apart from the house)My girls both want to go to Uni. I shall pay for subscriptions to the Young Farmers club and hope. Coins and George 11 furniture are on my hit list.Don't worry about the chavs they will go for a playstation every time.
  9. Nice one Bob After many years of collecting the quality counts...plus a bit of sun and wife and kids treats.Four bags of chips followed by Devon ice cream isn't too bad.The holiday money may get spent. I have coincided coin fairs myself.
  10. Thank you long time Jonnie Mother in Laws partner said 15 years ago that he was going to his grave in the shirt he wore..he certainly did. He had the best bowls and handmade fishing rods...miss him A desert Fox and proud. My kids Grandad
  11. Well said that man Buy what you know.Nuff said.Inheritance tax avoid it.Mum has had a gambling addiction.just do it now. I am so wound up...the Taxman will take the 25% taxfree lumpsum put it in farthings
  12. Well said that man Buy what you know.Nuff said.Inheritance tax avoid it.Mum has had a gambling addiction.just do it now.
  13. Bob How was your Florida trip? Every day I can drive around the country lanes and see guys digging up more history to send over the pond.I search on a monthly basis..weather and family dependant. On holiday in 2009 we booked a place in Devon with a private beach.A small boat came in and the guy had detectors.I saw him pluck a Victorian diamond ring and several green bronzes before he found a George 111 Sov.All I got was a bucket of shrimp and prawns and a red neck.
  14. Huss Come and live next door. I already keep our postie busy.He signs for me and leaves parcels hidden.I also cause uproar in the village PO...actually my neighbour sells scale trucks and we can close it for a couple of hours
  15. Yes, very strange to see the full rim! One of the farthing boys on here has snaffled it I reckon! I don't search for modern 1/4ds Interesting though
  16. It varied...old copper nose (Henry V111) Fine silver issue coins of Edward V1. Generally our coinage was the finest and even imitated and accepted by many nations. worth a google
  17. I like to see London coins slightly over grade (IMO)there will be a couple of bids banging twice estimate(don't worry 1D boys or you silver slappers) and if I don't get what I want I will take a wheelbarrow to the next Midland. It is part of the fun and the chase.Last November I left 5 bids on Ebay coins whilst visiting the Midland (spent a wee bit too much there) Then I won 4 of the Ebay coins)Exit stage right Peter
  18. We all had a look though. There is no bad publicity(engraved coin for you there Debbie)on the bust
  19. Thank you Peter - actually I haven't (yet) lost my benefits as I haven't been "migrated" to the new benefit. However, I do live in a fair amount of anxiety worrying about whether I will receive justice or be one of the many unlucky ones. Samantha? and I always thought you were Christopher...I've got 3 women in my life but luckily got a tom cat and a male springer(we often pile up on the sofa)with a bag of cheese and onion hula hoops..we also like monster munch.
  20. Thank you Peter - actually I haven't (yet) lost my benefits as I haven't been "migrated" to the new benefit. However, I do live in a fair amount of anxiety worrying about whether I will receive justice or be one of the many unlucky ones. Samantha? I have put over 100k in an annuity no more. After seeing those twats reducing payments it is all going on fine wine, champers and a liver transplant(maybe a few farthings). My concern is the changes to the 2nd pension. Having paid into it for the last 40 years I was expecting about another £100 per week. Looks is if that will be cut back to about £40 and the rest given to those who didn't pay into it.
  21. Trouble is I can still go on world cruise...buy an Aston Martin and waste every penny I have amassed and good old UK will still give me benefits. Why save? in 20 years time we will see.I've already been blighted by the state pension age rising. My investments will be invisible.Gordon Brown you tosspot.
  22. the amount of these that turn up on ebay, there must be around 10,000 unknown examples?? ;) It sold for 590 quid Interesting fake. If you zoom your display, you can see that the second 3 is too close to the first, and has also got a slight clockwise tilt. But it's certainly not immediately obvious. £590! I still prefer mine Note from CCGB 2512 edition: "It was initially thought that only 7 or 8 1933 pennies were minted, but more were found and sold in the early 21st Century, so the current estimate is that around 795 were minted. Be aware that the position and quality of the final 3 is variable - this is normal for this strike. Don't spend more than €3,000,000,000 on a VF example." Erratum included in later copies of CCGB 2512: We apologise for an error in early editions of this 3D holographic guide. Following discovery of the 'Shanghai hoard' containing 788 pennies dated 1933, the valuation for a coin in VF condition should read "€3,000,000,000 or 15 Drachmas". My great Uncle Bulgaria got one in change in a London nightclub during the 50's caused a bit of a stir...he apparently spent it at Liverpool Street station....and wrote "here I sit broken hearted, paid a penny and only f*****"
  23. Debbie I prefer cross patonce or cross fleury BTW a good cheapo Edward 1 site I will send a PM.Prices from £3 for a nice bit of silver. Well nice but not on my wish list..should get you started though.
  24. Richard You would of been a top bloke to sit next in class. At college I had an architect who was useless at maths, his father and grandfather were architects.I dragged him through and was rewarded with loads of ale and many trips out in a Triumph Herald...trouble is he couldn't pull himself around a room.
  25. Peck I realise you may have a few mobility problems...Hang in there Buddy and get your benefits sorted. You are obviously smart enough. It is always a pleasure to read your comments and gain knowledge. I have type 2 diabetes and I will live to 110 on a diet of quality food,Cuban cigars and a whiff of falling down juice. I should be able to sort out a decent annuity Plus Mrs Peter is a fox
