    verdigris and cleaned coins?

There sure is! I just identified a 1902 penny with a low tide too, tons to learn, but already enjoying my new hobby. that's a bloody good find in a box like that...well done! Shame it is not in better condition... I would noob grade it... Almost Pants! Hey, you just invented a new grade - P You been peeking at my collection?? Collection of pants?
  2. Dons his Brodie helmet and retreats to under the table.
  3. Agreed - and being published annually, it's more up to date too. Under a fiver on amazon! I think I will get a copy. Does anyone know what the release date will be for the 2012 edition? Save me buying two if its out soon. Chris Perkins the owner of this site can only tell you that. I can't see a 2012 edition coming out this year....but I'm sure Chris will confirm. The information on rarities and key dates won't change.
  4. Tony Claydon's site is useful but is no substitute for Collectors coins Great Britain. This on sale on Amazon UK & COM. There are far more varieties listed and useful information....It is also cheap as chips.
  5. A few obvious farthings 1863,1874h with both G's over on the obverse,1875 large date and small date with NO H,1895 bun. I would also consider 1883,1892 & all reasonable Edward V11 (1914&15) are also quite rare as are lustred 1935 & 1938 Have a look at Colin's site Aboutfarthings or use collectors coins GB by Chris. Happy hunting
  6. It isn't a rare coin.Even near perfect I wouldn't want to pay much more than £15.The mintage was massive.
  7. If the picture is that bad and the obverse isn't shown...bells are ringing.
  8. to buy food and marijuana Yes the normal procedure is the other way around!! You need both with the munchies

  10. There was a thread on books the other day. This CD is the same guy who advertises his coin cleaning kit on this forum. Could be useful http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coinage-Books-Trade-Tokens-Great-Britain-Ireland-Cd-30-Books-Total-/120909389805?pt=UK_Coins_Tokens_RL&hash=item1c26c2dfed#ht_712wt_1270
  11. Detector finds are often barrelled this tends to wear detail. There good and bad coins found with a detector. Some coins do get plough damage. It does help to be able to ID the coins.
  12. Welcome to the forum. There are many classes and mints for Henry longcross 1d's. Your coin is very worn with little to go on.I can't see a sceptre.A good book for IDing hammered is England's striking history. Sorry I can't be off more help.
  13. The obverse appears to be a very weak strike. I can't believe PCGS graded this.
  14. Another newbie here John. Can I have a goody bag of UNC 18C farthings The £2 is on its way to the air ambulance.

Bob How was your Florida trip? Every day I can drive around the country lanes and see guys digging up more history to send over the pond.I search on a monthly basis..weather and family dependant. On holiday in 2009 we booked a place in Devon with a private beach.A small boat came in and the guy had detectors.I saw him pluck a Victorian diamond ring and several green bronzes before he found a George 111 Sov.All I got was a bucket of shrimp and prawns and a red neck.
  23. Huss Come and live next door. I already keep our postie busy.He signs for me and leaves parcels hidden.I also cause uproar in the village PO...actually my neighbour sells scale trucks and we can close it for a couple of hours

Yes, very strange to see the full rim! One of the farthing boys on here has snaffled it I reckon! I don't search for modern 1/4ds Interesting though
  25. It varied...old copper nose (Henry V111) Fine silver issue coins of Edward V1. Generally our coinage was the finest and even imitated and accepted by many nations. worth a google
