Here is one for you Peter. Cannot remember where this came from. Weight 11.68g Diameter 31.9mm 2mm thick. Nice It happened and always will happen.I now look at the wider perspective. If the £ isn't too different I will always buy Suffolk,East Anglian,English,British,Western Europe,Commonwealth in that order. My exceptions are Label Rouge French products.(even if those armpits smell and the majority are soap dodgers)

I sent one back to CC because of the grading Colin died 7 years ago. I sent coins back before he died. Overall one of the better honest dealers. Jeffrey,Barry Murphy,Saltford,Anthony Hulse,Ian Pratt(sells at the Midland) are all highly recommended. and Cambridge Coins for the bargains

Both coins are marginal Fine.I look at the shield. The question about ME or not doesn't come into it.I have about a dozen better than this but won't sell because of the joys of Ebay.I could describe a F as VF and get a happy buyer at £50 or the same coin with no description for .99p. I don't know if anyone else saw him but at the Midland last year there was an idiot selling Victorian silver at least 3 grades over stated (no kidding).I just laughed and walked away.

Gary...That is just awful CSE metalwork Grade 5 methinks. Wrap it and try and slide it into someone else's bin. -
1932 Wreath Crown - Forgery off Ebay
Peter replied to B1Bamster's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
The most I have spent on a coin from Ebay is £200. I know what I'm buying and a detailed research is always made. Anything under £100 I'm prepared to take an educated risk. I bought a Henry V1 groat this morning which is Calais mint and without annulets. From a known dealer, done the research...Looks good pewter and the MM R is well struck up. -
And THANK God, I'd be reading my coin books alone in my caravan otherwise! Well, I guess if you need to capture people's attention, you have to lead the thread appropriately, but sufficiently catchy, so...'BUST' of Elizabeth I, do you think it better to leave the scratches in and 'keep it real?' Or is it more aesthetically pleasing to photoshop them out? ;-) I like coins in their natural state as I do women.Tattoo's,piercings, plastic implants(when NOT a medical issue)are hideous IMO. What is wrong with temporary tattoo's,clip on piercings and chicken fillets PS I like Ashmore coins and contemporary forgeries.

Bedale Hoard Hammered Briot Shilling
Peter replied to Coinery's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
The seller said he spent just under 5k that day, and couldn't pinpoint the lot? I had already emailed him a few times regarding it, and didn't feel I could hassle him any more! I do feel relatively satisfied it's from the Hoard, however, I'll not be able to prove it, sadly. John Newman by any chance? Bought from him before when he had a best offer option.Grades well but too expensive nowadays. -
I think that is offensive. Treating men as meat in today's society is not acceptable.

I only want to find one so I can have a closer look Damn it You and Declan have given me another thing to do. The grass doesn't cut itself you know (he sits here with his 3rd cuppa praying for rain )

Largest coin ever in circulation?
Peter replied to Descartes's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
A great idea for the hole so they could be threaded on something. This is my largest dia coin at 42mm but only the weight of a cartwheel 1d. http://www.omnicoin.com/coin/911169 -

Years ago a large group of aquaintance's got together and formed a club (OIC)it stood for over indulgence club.It worked to an extent but Mrs Peter wasn't too happy.(Partners were invited to a do once a year) It is not running now but favouritism still exists. I am aware of the Buffs more than Masons but have never taken that further step. Keep posting the Masonic items...very interesting and opens interesting google subjects

My best Viccy florin (so far)
Peter replied to Paulus's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
"Ahh so" another of Feung Shoo's 1883 batch. It will kid most people. -
That's just cruel, Peter. Nice 1904 florin, Paulus. Thanks Nick and Dave, and to Peter, anyone else want to make a stab at a grade? Very well struck.I couldn't give it UNC because it has dipped its toe in early 20C life....but it would get ef+ money. Paulus if you want to sell forget those 40x face adverts for pre 1920 there is a man here offering 50x

Today it is all about "networking" I'm booked into a day of it soon....I shall turn up in Jeans and Rugby shirt. At one time I was attending high powered meetings in London..I even joined the rat race of gold cuff links,Rolex and subtle flashes of quality.I loved to pull the top of my Asda George underpants over the belt of my Prada trousers. Anyone here had association with the Buffs ?
-
i had that problem......how we laughed when she first showed me the handcuffs She didn't laugh so loudly when she had a stipple artex pattern on the top of her head.

Heung Foo at our local Chinese said he was very pleased with this batch.

My Forgeries, just a list.
Peter replied to Chris Perkins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Blimey Chris Have you just come out as a forgerienumismatic type chap.? Later SEUK will be sneeking in the pantry window. -
The tin farthing also looks quite good apart from the hole on the OBV. It is a hole? Did you also sell this? LOL...you 1D boys Tin farthings were plugged with copper/brass to discourage forgery. Early Charles 1st farthings were often given brass wedges.

Only 7 weeks It would take me longer to establish I couldn't get out of Kelly Brooks bed.
-
It is a important piece and deserves to reside in a well attributed UK collection...far too nice to pick up dust in a museum or end up over the pond.
-
I'm guessing here...Spink have an auction 28/06/12

I have a 1949 edition Full title is Seaby's catalogues-Copper coins and tokens-British Isles A wonderful reference; It covers Roman coins struck in Britain during the occupation,Anglo-Saxon sceats,English copper coins 1860-1936,Billion and copper coins of Scotland,Irish coppers etc,Coins and tokens of the Isle of Man,Coins of Lundy Island,Copper coins and tokens of the Channel islands,17C tokens,An introduction to 18C tradesmen's tokens (by Peck ),18C tokens,19C silver tokens & 19C copper tokens. I note that this publication records the large date 1737 1/4d which that "slacker" Peck missed 11 years later The preface lists Trade tokens in the 17C by W Boyne 1889-91 Provincial token coinage of 18C D&H 1910-18 The silver token coinage by Dalton 1922 The 19C token coinage by WJ Davis 1904 Seaby goes on to say the book is not a complete list as he was aware of 15,000 copper 17C tokens Happy hunting Dave....is there a book in you?
