Work experience at DNW...easier exams...you whippersnappers don't know how lucky you are. My work experience was a butcher boy after school on Friday to make the sausages and Saturday morning dawn to noon and scrubbing up....yep £2 (I still can't stand shoddy sausage's) This together with summer fruit picking got me a Carlton Cobra racing cycle which in turn I traded up to a brand spanking new FSIE sports moped. I never did accomplish living next to a nymphomanic's refuge on one side and a home for battered fish on the other with a good real ale pub accross the road....but 2 outa 3 ain't bad

Hi I will be honest with you. Without further investigations (I assume the early Victorian coins are 1d's) Very little. The 2 pre 1947 silver coins are 50% silver and worth maybe £1.50 ish for the pair. The 1871 date only 1d is rare but worth buttons in that condition...so my guess is £5 tops for the lot...maybe sell as 1 lot on Ebay (beware high postage and hassle)or £5 for the lot at a carboot. I also assume the veiled head Victorian 1d's are average circulated. Good luck in trying...why not keep them?

I've got more than 10 available too. That doesn't mean to say the one you get will be mark free though. The one in the picture isn't, and the other side isn't shown. The picture may or may not be the coin you receive. Dave Watson is a member of this forum, and has told me he will ensure I get one that has either minimal or no marks on it and in a wallet. Like Rob I must have 20+ aquired over the years.I really haven't inspected them. Some are in Lloyds bank folders or black velvet pouches etc. Rob you will probably have to go to the US market and pick out a slabbed MS66 and then release it.Hus was after one a while back.

Could this be a US 1944 D over S penny?
Peter replied to Englishpicker's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
Trouble of this it is impossible to tell minor die errors from dealers lists or Ebay. At fairs ditto with the hustle and bustle and suspect lighting. I take a good quality x7 glass.I also have those tiny x45 & x60 pocket scopes which have LED lights.(I bought 20 from HK)sold a few on Ebay to cover my cost & have plenty left...I may sell a few more but they are so handy...almost disposable. -
You are the 1st UK based (interested in coins)person I am aware of who has actually had to purchase a Churchill Crown. I'm sure they have a use in automotive repairs somewhere.

Why not the loft, I thought that would be quite a good place !. Most peoples lofts are boiling in summer and cold in winter....apart from the Manchester & North crew

I become a gibbering wreck with 50 dealers in overcast Birmingham. Enjoy

Keep your copper and bronze in a centrally heated house and not in a dank corner. I also keep all those little silicon packs. Don't put them in your loft or garden shed

Everyone has dreams and thinks they have found the Golden Chalice The amount of people I've told their Churchill Crown is not the Satin proof VIP version but one of the 16m that lurk in little old ladies drawers

You seemed to get a lot more for your £ pre 71. Grandads saved their pre 47 silver and I could get huge bags of 1d & 1/2d's to search through...you got 2,400 1/2ds in those days for a fiver (I was too young for circulating farthings...but every Tom,Dick and Harry had a tin full) I also loved 10 shilling and pound notes and have attempted to amass them back to the 1930/40's. I think you need a crystal ball to predict collecting trends. The 1953 plastic set was selling for £6 back in 1971 & unc Queen Liz sovereigns were £5. In the latest Coin News the Kew Garden 50p's were mentioned (mintage 10,000) these will rocket if the press pick up on it.

And the 3rd pic Sorry Diddley I've seen so many "old coins" and yet I found a widow in North Suffolk who gave her husbands collection of Henry v111 to a very nice man who cleared her husbands clothes.

Codeine is an 'ine,' a close relative to diamorphine (heroine), people pay good money for a trip like your's! Did you back the horse? I forget the stats, now, it does act as a hallucinogen for a number of people, not all, I think your reaction was at the top end of the drug's hallucinogenic potential. Take paracetamol AND ibuprofen (if you're able), spreading the maximum recommended dose over 24hrs. Ibuprofen will take a little while to build up levels in your system, but it should help a bit! Time for a disclaimer - read all the information provided with the drugs, and consult your GP/dentist...they're insured! Good luck and happy Christmas, Gollum, you'll be fine! After spending the night talking to a horse at a green deserts fair after taking mushrooms,Lsd and magic Pizza...I've avoided everything.....ahhh the summer of love I'm now a fully recovered guy surviving on 53 cockburns port....and Mrs Peter's homemade Pizza which consists of Chilli, garlic, mushroom & pepper.

Hi The 1st picture the copper coins are worth nothing and the silver (post 1920) have intrinsic value...50% silver. The 2nd picture all the coins (pre 1920) are sterling silver which is 92.5% pure. The coins are in a very low grade and the lot may make about £40/50 on ebay...maybe a little more. That's enough to buy the Xmas Turkey

I started in the late 60's by collecting every Victorian penny there was.One Grandfather gave me a George 11 1/2d which as a 7 year old I dated 1727 My other grandfather gave me a William and Mary 1/4d. At primary school I did a talk on coins. Come the advent of spotty youthdom I was drawn into bikes, football, rugby and fishing...girls,2 stroke jap bikes followed. I then grew up and still had albums of PVC clad coins including the key dates...by now I was subscribing to Coin Monthly and getting 10 dealers lists per month and buying. The slippery slope of reading coin publications was becoming obvious...my father collected stamps...boring. I also amassed fossils....which I still love(my wife likes jet & amber). I now buy & sell what I want within reason although I haven't breached the big sums.I have concentrated on early copper....pre 1800 back to 1672...you can DO modern farthings for pence...vastly undervalued.I was a former customer of the Farthing Specialist and then Colin Cooke. I now just enjoy the hobby and picking a few choice examples. I still fish, imbibe a beer and love eating out although girls are strictly out of bounds...my daughters have inherited their mothers looks and I have a big stick to keep today's spotty youth off them...although if one turned up with some nice early copper Over the years I have bought some wrong uns...we all do...I've also hesitated on a few and lost them. Just spend what you can afford...a few £ maybe you can always sell it but in the mean time enjoy it. Get your Kew Gardens 50p's now...Coin News have just stated only 10,000 were minted (250,000 undated 20p,s)...soon as they reach £200 mine will buy me a nice George 1 1/4d

I stubbed my toe(and lost the nail) and I was given a type of Codeine which made the airing cupboard a radio receiver and a radiator play horse racing commentry on a loop.I hope you get sorted.BTW the Dancing Gypsy won at 10-1. The following night I had 2 paracetamol and a glass of wine with a handle.

I sell a few on Ebay as and when but its mainly for my girls...I still buy but also use the internet and known dealers of many years...I also like a scamper around a coin fair.Auctions...been blown away so often. What I like every Tom,Dick and Randy (from the USA likes). Always expect the unexpected Be in the right place at the right time...Avoid anything below gvf

What grade would you say this was?
Peter replied to azda's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I will go under F for value. That scratch is recent (and appears to go through Vicki's face) The stain also detracts.Even without defects it would push to get F. -
Insurance...I'm the most anti person. Make it portable and hide it....

Help with Better Dates with issues to hunt for

Looking back it is 6 1/2yrs since CC died. His encyclopedia would of been published by now and the farthing variety market blasting off into orbit making me a"farthing" millionaires overnight. -
Hi Gary You seem to be doing alright with your purchases. You can't lose much if you are only lashing out £2 & 10p's. Don't try and run before you can walk. The 1959 2/6 is not very nice (typically a circulated coin).Don't pay these silly amounts for crap coins that you can pick up by the bucket load for a couple of £. Maybe have a search around a car boot or junk shop and get a feel for what you like. A mahogany cabinet is a good idea (only use this or rosewood for coin cabinets) Peter Nicholls web site may give you some idea's (although mine is a one off) for which I will pay dearly in the January sales & Mrs Peter's uncanny spending ability. :(a Get a couple of books...keep spending on cheapies until you find something that really interests you.Free advice is only a post away.
