Only sell recorded postage and state the risk is with the purchaser...I have only sold to France & USA (also UK) a hundred £ hit messes up a lot of hard work....sorry nothing goes to third world countries. -
Wow, your local butcher's sells wine by the glass??? The village store is opposite the butchers...it costs a few bob to drive to a supermarket...over the cold period before Xmas I was buying wine at £5.99 a bottle...until I discovered flagons of cloudy scrumpy.I told Mrs Peter it was to cook the pork in ....she asked why it took 2 litres I prefer to use the village shops...and maybe I will ask the butcher to give a free glass of wine with every steak. A point to note that the butcher is far cheaper for meat and veg than supermarkets...use it or lose it.

The price of a coin is what the punter will pay...forget Spink Rotagraphic etc there are 99p coins out there for £20 and equally in reverse...know your market and buy books first.

And lets not forget Chris' book, CCGB has some more realistic prices and comes in pocket size I mentioned CCGB in the first line of the list. As to pricing, nobody can give anything more than a ballpark figure. Many coins are available at a range of prices at any one time, usually dependant on the price paid by the seller - i.e. marked up by a certain margin unless acquired on the cheap in which case whatever you think you can get for it. Realistic prices are a personal preserve and will vary from one person to the next in line with their willingness or lack thereof to part with their money, or whether they have specific pieces in mind. The latter are more likely to have a grasp of pricing in their chosen area having missed out in the past.

Peter replied to Terry's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I did my first dealings from coin monthly...it used to arrive and the call made that day...it wasn't till I had a bit of surplus that I treated the family out to Harrowgate or Coventry that I bought quality....I remember spending a couple of grand at the Midland and the wife still doesn't know...It is still worth more than I paid...plus I have enjoyed them.Might have to sell soon as both daughters want Uni and cars.I sometimes wish I remained single and if it F##ks floats or flys rent it. -
I still haven't got my 2011 copy...pull your finger out Chris

Despite further abuse Coincrafts 2000 edition will point you in the right way....Although the prices are getting almost on the knocker.

There are a lot of old names that come and go I rember a copy of coin monthly which had a page 3 flossie avertising pennies...anyone want to buy my buns or old head -
Don't buy it, get it free from the stables. Speaking of which, reminds me of the time when I carted a wheelbarrow full of free pigs**t home from the other side of town when I was young. The looks of disdain were a wonder to behold as I slopped my way through the town centre. Only Northerners would do that we get muck delivered in squeaky clean bags....I must say Coincrafts 2000 catalogue was good the pricing is almost right now...crap paper...but I still bought one.

There are bargains on Ebay but know your market and bid accordingly.I did buy a 1849 VF farthing from a dealers list for £6....you can't be an expert on all coins
-
I don't know who buys from them....certainly out of my radar...they were selling crap Eddie pennies a while back for 4x value.I suppose it takes all types and their shop is near the BM...anyone with a bit of common sense will steer clear...they do sell some nice coins at OTT prices
