  1. When it comes to variations I tend to stick published items...I have over 10 1720 farthings which are different.
  2. Freeman / Gouby /Peck created the monster of varieties.I looked at the recent CC auction of pennies how many 1860's? I bought a job lot of Coin mags from 1967 to 1981...they often had surveys and detailed varieties..much better than todays coin news. I stopped my subsciption due to mainly new issues and rubbish being focused on...I now stick to my Jazz mags and the daily sport

A salutary lesson for newcomers ..

I would love a Newark shilling...but a load of other coins before....if one comes along at the right price I might be tempted William 3rd farthings have been a challenge....I'm still not happy...the 1695 is a pain...I paid a lot of money in the USA for this although I still managed to sneek a 1698 exurge for $10 and date in legend for $135....described as EF and as Mr Cooke overgraded his Williams I kept it....I always go for eye appeal on early copper...it floats my boat. I'm still looking for a good 1679...mine although GF has a bit of green....always on the look out

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

It's a recognised variety for those of us who like such things, very rare, a specimen (graded as Fine and said to be finest known) sold for £700 here James Workman sale My example cost 45p on Ebay, which is why it's worth looking hard at the crap for certain dates David Why is the finest known only F?...nice one on the 45p coin....I've bought a few coins of which I was quite smug with...and even a few off dealers lists...a 1849 farthing in GVf for £6 ...he wasn't a farthing buff....I will have to through my sack full of pennies to see if there anything rare.
