  1. Is that a slight edge knock at 8 o'clock on the reverse ? Nice coin all the same and a beautiful tone.
  2. Return them to whom? Both coins are collectable if the condition is good...unlike 95% of the tat on Ebay.
  3. Perhaps I should study the Auctions more but unfortunatly with a young family I haven't the disposable income. The dealers lists I receive however have shown a marked increase for anything reasonably interesting. (and a distinct lack of anything interesting) My purchases have been from ploughing through Ebay (which is sometimes like pulling teeth due to the dross and prats). I'm going to try a couple of the monthly fairs over the summer.... most likely my disposable income is going to stay in my wallet until I can locate that must have piece at any price.

    Very Sad :(

Looks like a lot of car for little money. I had my little play with a banger last year but its just not practical to have the RAC follow you around (and taking 4 hours to get some bread and milk) You can't beat a bit of Aircon, cruise controletc. I wonder if Michael Carrol will make a bid.
  5. On one piece my bid was the highest (and only bid) according to the web site...unless someone under bid on the same day. I think we will all just have to sit this one out.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

qccoins how does he do it and not get - every time...please check out tat he sells to happy customers. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1931-Farthing-in-Ext...1QQcmdZViewItem
  7. Happy birthday and all that....Exams....easy life....you wait until you have to decide between a Colin Cooke 1/4d and "summer outfits" for my daughters.

    Celtic Unit

I was going to add something....about fakes and collectability...and where fakes aren't really fakes (continental sterlings etc) I clicked the Lo-Fi Version and was suitably impressed.....excellent work Chris.

    The price of copper

Its official. The price of copper has rocketed recently so now pre 1992 coppers are worth 1.5 x face. Start collecting boys. It also means those 1967 1/2ds are now worth 3p in copper scrap...1ds worth 6p. Of course melting down of coins is illegal.
  11. I will happily have a catalogue without a 1967 1/2d attached.
  12. Sorry Chris...but that was yesterday. Copper has x4 in the last year. But your offer seems very generous......If you,ve got em sell them to Chris.....I say
  13. Chris Melt value is £72.

    Was mucking around..

Thats much nicer. The other pose freaked me out. She would look great with a hairband, red lips and a 20's Charleston image (silk dresses, silk french knickers, sussies) A future Mrs Perkins?
  15. Why would anyone want a lesser grade coin with a pedigree ? Colins collection is thought to be the finest by me...OK...I might fancy a Peck...but where actually do pedigrees sit in the "pecking" order ? I believe they have no real place apart from bragging rights. May I also ask how far off is "The Farthing Encyclopedia" ? Over the years I have been searching for some varieties based upon John Minishall (Farthing Specialist) and Colins lists and feel I now need to close off the open ended searching. There is one coin I would particually like but it it has no pedigree,it was recorded on Colins list a few years ago.(& not since). Fingers X...or will I be bidding on a white elephant...or will it have Colins Pedigree and become worth more than the date ?

    Was mucking around..

I will call a spade a spade....that pose is too Myra Hindley.
  17. There is a lot of stuff missing and some of the pieces aren't the finest. A lot is being held back.
  18. I've noted Geoff's replys to your other posts....He's very tactful...enamel painted coins like this have no real interest to collectors...and medallions are hit and miss. Your 1/4 farthing may be of more interest to collectors and Ebay will probably find its level as long as you post a good picture and description. It could be worth between £10 to £60 depending on condition
  19. I'm licking my lips....but is this the entire collection? I'm also grinning as one of the early coppers doesn't get near to mine (1698 legend). I reckon some of the latter coins will go for silly money because of the pedigree....Mrs Peter has acknowledged that it maybe a lean June.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Doh...Are you telling me I've wasted £75 . Hey guys I've got an idea....lets create some artificial markets and all take early retirement....shall we start with the extremely rare Victoria veiled head coppers...I think I've got 1 or 2 of these rare coins about somewhere.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Look at the sellers feedback and the items he/her has sold....Shill bidding everytime.

I always suspected a "straight bat" wasn't the order of the day. Also any idea why Mr Bennet changed to Coin-Division ?
  24. It is a very common (50% silver) 3d. Value from say 25p (circulated) to about £7 to £10 if absolutley perfect with full mint lustre. Keep it for your Xmas pudding
  25. and its a strange blip in the market that the currency 1950 1d is worth more than the proof.
