May I just mention that I am rather happy that Ipswich stuffed the "Norfolk Mugs" 2-1 in a most one sided game. & I'm sure the Iceni were blue...(all that blue wode face paint). Super Blues.

They have rocketed from about £25 to £100 in a couple of years. I still borrow one from the library when the need arises. You will be lucky to get one from anyone "in the know".

question about coin-what is it
Peter replied to a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
From the dia it sounds like a Cartwheel 2d. I'm afraid they are very common and if tarnished it will be worth very little. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/George-III-Cartwheel...1QQcmdZViewItem Is it like this one ? -
Yes...and if any of your coins develop it you are not storing them correctly.(probably damp conditions ie loft, garden shed etc) Remove affected coins immediately as it will spread.

Can anybody help?
Peter replied to tracey777's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Geordie...for US coins I can recommend the Red Book. I've got the 2005 spiral bound (2006 is out now) because so many are sold they are cheap to buy. Try Amazon.com (from memory about £8 incl postage) -
If the coins are average circulated there is nothing worth more than say 50p....thats if you can find a buyer !!!! The medals though it could be different.

Latest catalogue value for the 1854 4D currency coin is £3 to £4 in Fine......£30 to £35 in Extra Fine
-
A picture would help...However it would seem you have answered your own question....and if its in your book??? You must surely be able to google further information.

Camerons success will depend on how the tabloids take to him,or more to the point how the tabloids don't take to Brown. Actual policies won't come into it although I presume the Tories will make hay with immigration, asylum seekers and paedophiles. The balance of power is swinging...helped along by the recent alcoholic, homosexual escapades of the Democrats(The Tories will absorb the shocked orange twinsett brigade). If we are to endure another term of Labour they will need to nurture Joe Public who seem only interested in parading around in shoddily made designer gear, borrowing beyond their means and watching tat like Big Brother.....Watch those spin Drs go.

1861 over 81 Victorian Penny
Peter replied to a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
It would seem 1861 over 81 1d isn't so rare. -
Very slight wear and grades of GEF or aUNC are (I was going to say Fine ) But I'm no perfectionist. There is nothing worse than buying a Choice gem BU which shadows its neighbours. Nice copper with a good strike suits me. What I dislike are carbon spots, finger prints, general stains and the dreaded dings.

Here's a hint....A bloke down the pub said this software can be picked up cheaply in the Far East. Tried Ebay? -
A 3D collector !!!!....and I don't mean isometric I have actually never seen a decent 46,49 on Ebay or dealers lists.

Guineas are 22ct gold and weigh just over 8g. If he sells jewellery as well I would heed Robs warning.
-
If there were no marks on the obverse a grade GVF+ to NEF-. If I bought it at GVF I would be satisfied...but if I was going to spend a "couple of thou" on a coin it wouldn't be 20C silver

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Georgius-III-In-Memo...1QQcmdZViewItem Make sure its not one of these gaming counters (common and of several different types)they all look vaguely similar to a spade guinea. These were often holed for watch chains etc....& worth less than 50p. A genuine holed guinea for £12 is unlikely....the scrap value of gold is going to be around £60.
-
We can also advise you on correct long term storage...."Plastic coin album" worries me.
-
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1723-SILVER-SHILLING...1QQcmdZViewItem A case of auction fever.

In reply to you Geordie....no Geoffrey as yet...but the 1st Plantagenet will put him on my list. This coin lark is like pyramid selling.
-
I need to improve my "French" understanding and reading...yes !!!!! the sources are a tad difficult. The cross overs and low countries/regions would seem to make an interesting study...a simple family tree would be useful.

I didn't notice the Craolvs initially...just blinded by the over date.
