I keep missing your radio airings, whether it be meetings, away from my computer or not travelling down the A41 at the time. Are they proving popular ? What is the actual format ? When various work associates find I have a hankering for coins they bring in these worn Vickie veilhead pennies. You must have the patience of a Saint.Hang about isn't there a job going in Rome?
  3. Follow me chaps to the land of copper and gold where Replica's and Verdigris are banned
  4. St Malachy...I don't think I've got Roman blood..although I quite like their coins...but I do live within 250yds of the site of an old Roman Fort

I was about to blame thev Missus for messing around with the computer...cookies et all...I reckon Stujoe is doing maintenance forgetting about us Brits. PS Those guys have some seriously nice copper...even if its not very old...Don't see many slabbed Hammered do we?....I don't think a MS 65 Lizzie 1 6d would appeal A good site all the same and nice folks.

I don't understand Can you or can't you get to Coinpeople?
  7. Unfortunatley coins which had a date but alas have lost them over the years are usually scrap. I've got a few seemingly nice Ch11 1/4d's with nice obverse but unreadable dates...might as well drill em and use as washers.
  8. You boys watch yourselves...especially over at Coinpeople. Lets hope the popular press let go with all this Popeidom rubbish and get on with the more important things. St Georges Day....climax of footie season and prime totty in bikini's (topless )making their 1st show on our beaches.

I wish this subject/format was given a wider coverage by the BBC. I know a lot of the BBC local stations get together and broadcast one programme during off peak times its a shame it isn't this one. Imagine if you could reach the massed retirement areas eg Clacton/Frinton....there must be stacks of interesting coins tucked away in lofts and the like. You are brave men putting yourselves up there to be shot at....I take it that it is live. I think it would be great TV (Sky?)to mix up a few of the popular collecting hobbies and produce a series. Just look what TV has done to Antiques in raising profiles.
  11. Do you reckon if a good Catholic boy was christened Jervais,Horace or even Adolf he would be excluded from being the Pope....This is surely NAMIST.
  12. Being a new Brit owner of The US Red Book. 28,075,000 million cents minted that year (not a year identified as scarce ) US dealers rates (in $) VG $8 F $14 EF $40 Do a search on EBAY.com (US) you should get loads of comparisons.
  13. I would never trust a bird with my money
  14. Unless its "as struck" £20 or £30 ....then it won't be worth a lot. If you can clearly see Victorias hair detail,a sharp image of the Union Jack on Britannia's shield, there are no edge knocks, the date and lettering are all clear and it HASN'T BEEN CLEANED. It maybe worth £3 to £7. A worn coin but with date & lettering clear ....maybe £1. Still thats not a bad return (there were 480 to the £)

Thanks Geoff...the Ace card up my sleeve when my wife suggests a shopping trip to Norwich.
  16. Not a bad 2/6 although it has a few problems (cleaned?) from the picture GF to NVF (although with the dings and black marks probably the lesser) Collectable
  17. Get a job and stop sponging of the rest of us....PS sell me your 6ds & gold cheap....at your age I only had a few Bun PENNIES AND PRE 47 SILVER. []
  18. Keep it to remind you of your Grandfather (it obviously meant something to him) On Ebay its got 99p written all over it.
  19. If it is average circulated condition...ie everything readable and Queen Victorias neckless quite defined its worth about £1/2....if it is brilliant uncirculated it may be worth £10/20.....either way its a piece of history...and 92.5% silver. You could always put it in this years Xmas Pud.
  20. Such a coin is surely the "Holy Grail" for a 2/6 series collector. Won't it spoil his enjoyment of tracking it down...just to have you present it to him? A couple of coins I want will require detailed inspection and negotiations before I would accept.
  21. I'm intrigued. Time for a quick google.

Do you recommend Clive Dennetts shop ? The journey to Norwich is about an hour. I think the Castle would be a good visit for my girls....however I don't want to leave the Missus shopping for too long. Last time I went to Norwich was a coin fair 2 years ago....I spent over £400...and the Missus wasn't far behind. The difference being I've still got and like the stuff I bought !!!!! I think the singing in Norwich is limited to the cathedral. He he he ......I live in the Blue side of Anglia.

    Ebay Feedback

Anything that doesn't look quite right I will leave well alone. Elena2632 MUST be banned...that is blantant fraud. People are still buying replica's from a certain seller....he is picking them up for 99p and selling them on for starting bids of £9.99 Buy it now £50!!!!! There are absolute mugs out there.

    Gardening no doubt.
  25. If its a 1/2d (rather than 1/2p).It was probably deliberate so it could be used in a board game called "Shove Ha'penny". I inherited a board from my grandfather together with about a dozen coins (polished flat reverse side). Amongst these Victorian buns,Edward V11 & George V. It's actually a good game.
