Keep the magnifyer away from the window when sunny. Some of the members here are Northerners and they won't understand.

You are smokin...slow down and get yourself to a coinfair. You will need a loupe/glass or what ever.(I have a selection of China 99p cheapies) plus some top of the range bits of kit.The cheapies are evenly distributed over the house. You need to get a feel for what a coin pertains to be.There is no problem in buying VF's the problem is buying VF's for Unc £. Think about recording your purchases.Buy willy nilly will always come back and bite you.

Two cracking coins Gents, pity the monyers lost their way for a few centuries.

A bit heavy on the price, maybe it is the pictures but I suspect it has been treated to a swim in Godards silver dip. I don't mind the product and it can be used to improve a coin with isolated bad staining. I would want the bees knees for £140. An unc example books at £100. If it looks nice in hand (maybe not so bright).

Manchester with Spanish bolthole. "Mad for it" with 1d's. No doubt associated with TG and his love of Charlie. You never know but if CGS change for the better I might even consider getting a couple of coins slabbed for my daughters (Of course I will retain, hopefully for many years)

If these 2 teams are the best Europe have to offer for the next World Cup and with those nasty Ruskies as hosts can't say I am exited about the qualifiers.

You can specify the sizes you want. Although mahogany/rosewood are the prefered timber ,why not just sandwich the coins on a glass/hardboard frame. The backing colour can be a card of your choice and a dab of glue will hold the reverse sides into place. Then add an example of each of the obverse types. Obviously I would aim for nice clear coin of each type which do not need to be BU to show their asthetics. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Coinholders-20-2x2-Flips-Adhesive-For-Gold-Silver-Coins-/280524045031?hash=item4150893ae7:g:N7EAAOSwwE5WZeWu

I've done this by putting them into 2x2 cardboard flips/mylars.You can also write information on these. The self adhesive type are prefered. I did this for a friend who is into George 11 furniture. If you go this way I will happily send you a few sizes and between us wonderful forum folks can cover all sizes.

LCAexit...shock horror.Maybe a remain protest at Sundays Midland. With the $/Euro so high against the £ internet auctions will face a lot of competion outside from the UK (and I don't mean ebay)

EU referendum - in or out?
Peter replied to 1949threepence's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
That is honest Pete. After Mrs Peter passed a drink was an easy option. We always had wine with dinner and putting a case of wine in the weekly shop was automatic. When she died many nights I drank myself to sleep. At Xmas my mother made a comment and she didn't buy me my compulsory malt. That hit hard so I decided to give myself a kick up the rear. I haven't touched a drop since. I do still love a cigar rolled on a virgins inner thigh though. -
Nice bit of history. If I was a Charlie fanatic (aka TG) I would want that.
-
Good luck Swanny.I really do hope you get the right outcome. I would never trust them following what I saw them do to a 1865 1/4d.(Slabbed a heavily edged knocked example, coveniently hiding the knock).

Hope one of the big 3 from the States have got it ,employ correct staff and service customers US style. If they propose NORMAL SERVICES they can do one.

Great stuff Pete How do you want paying? I can send cash registered or any other method that suits you . Cheers I've spent so much in the last week or so.My eldests car was in for serious work on the engine (which muggins here is paying for). so she had borrowed my late wifes coupe and promptly wrote it off (no one injured except her pride and arse which I have been kicking around the village).I've just MOT'd my MG but needed something bigger than a knats snatch. So it is about time I got something nice in the post.
