The Copthorne collection of pennies
Peter replied to PWA 1967's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Quite shocked by the news but completely understand the market is ripe and priorities change. -
When will aboutsilverproofs.com go live?
-
If you're just not after bullion maybe start with Collectors coins GB for a few £ and Marsh publication for data. Gold being soft, grading and maintaining the grade should be your priority.A very pleasing series to collect.

Weren't the 20 Balboa's just issued in the proof sets? I've just got the 1976 set which I picked up for a song some years ago. Some of the nicest looking coins IMO.

I've just ordered a few sizes of capsuals from China at less that 10p a pop delivered.Hopefully for use with cut hammered or snippets of numismatic info (tickets, lables ETC) I also have some foreign...predominantly French 18C that do not fit into a tray or a flip due to size.

Dia , weight and composition would assist. -
There is nothing wrong with your coins as they are serving their purpose of educating. You can't go wrong for £19 for 2 silver coins over 300 years old. Obviously you can google and find many hammered coins to buy. I have bought from Historic Coinage (Clive), Saltford coins,Gillis,Lloyd Bennet,CC,Vosper and a few others including some US sellers. Auctions should also be on your radar although better pieces are sought after and bargains are difficult.I also often use VCOINS but you need to get in early on new listings.I don't discount ebay on new listings BIN and have sniped a few running their course. Don't forget we have online dealers on the forum who don't pay to appear on the top of google searches. I'm sure other forum members have favourites.Happy hunting.

Peter replied to CartwheelTwopence's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Copper I don't think you are referring to Garrets coin. If he picked up his crown for £22 I'm holidaying in Brisbane....- 20 replies

Advice required for 'found coins'
Peter replied to PB's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Hi Welcome to the forum. The coins you have pictured are very low grade.Maybe you could get a bit above melt for some of the 3d's. The silver content is pre 1920 92.5% (sterling) and 1920 to 1946 50%. If you weighed them and put them on ebay in these 2 categories you should shift them. -
Pete At what point do you stop upgrading?
-
My hard copy arrived today.

As a verb Vicky. I thought you Yanks used English as your 1st language

Pete I would never have guessed.
