We are friends with a lovely German lass from Melle. She used to be a secretary at Hereforder Pils where the local Squadies called a pack yellow handbags.

I do like a nice slab of sirloin medium rare. The thread here was about double standards of slabbing. It needs policing because there is a conflict of interests. When big sums of £ on a grade there is greed about. Obviously too tempting for some TPG's
  3. Dave put me onto Coincrafts book on Scottish/Irish etc coins. Maybe a few years out of date but hey who uses their pricing? £20 delivered and well worth it. It is an area that interests me. Scottish Nationalists hmm
  4. This really narks me. They were obviously stolen to order and must still be out there. They bloody need to be researched and published.

Some of the coins Robs collects have a bloody lot of research behind them and the work obviously will pay dividends. Each to their own.I can't resist a Bury St Eds mint hammered. I appreciate Robs work on IDing quality rare coins which will now be around for future collectors and part of our history. I do have Roman coins with tickets over 110 years old. I try and ID/record all my coins so my daughters will benefit. My aim this year is to pick off a few quality coins and cease on reckless buying.
  6. The wee lad will have more than a Roman (1880 cheque from the Royal bank of Scotland,Sottish shilling from 1959 etc etc)If he takes an interest I will be delighted.and Paulus will have enough for bit of rump. It has been a pleasure to contact over Predecimal.....I think Chris should stump up for an Amsterdam weekend.Only kidding Chris.I just hope we put business your way.I recommend your books because they are in my eyes the best.for attracting new customers...we all move on. Sears for the Romans and North for the hammered do scare a few.The more I stay on the forum the more I learn. I must admit I have established dealers from the US ,Scandinavia,Germany who I mainly deal with I do like Clive from Historic coinage and chip off a few now and again. We now have a post box because our Springer would rip anything through our letter box.Postie now hides packages around the garden(we have a code)
  7. There were reports of these coins turning up in Dundee and Munich but Dave our feral Scott denies all knowledge. BTW packages have been sorted to Dave and Paulus.(I don't accept returns) I've tried to give you both a nice selection(most important that Daves lad can ispect his treasures and Paulus I'm sure you can enjoy a steak night with .a partner of choice.
  8. Search on Malcolm 1Vth. I have Coincrafts Scottish Irish coins etc I will have a peek later. Most of the early Scottish coins were stolen and hence we do not have history. Some old guy took them home to study and was duly robbed.

P&M's float my boat and I will end up with a nice example. Being a reformed coinie I am concentrating on types and leaving my early copper on the back burner. I can't specialize like Rob as the funds/library/nouse are not there.
  10. Hi Welcome to the forum. I did a quick google search and got a few good hits. It is rare but other examples have been found on the Isle of Man. I suggest you contact the Edinborough museum or the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge.

I can recommend Collectors coins GB 1760-1970. A superb publication. It lists the late Victorian crowns by edge lettering. We need to persuade Chris (the owner of this site)to cover all the milled issues.

    Edge knocks spring to mind...
  13. AU is about VF in the UK so retail £8 to £10 slabbing it costs more than the value of the coin.
  14. great to see you.....999 posts.
  15. Any collector who is onto the internet and surely will find us. I have told buyers that they have bought Shite and been red carded by ebay. I now have my sellers outside ebay. Just punch in 1562 and the loonies will swamp for it
  16. kungfaaark ni llleh I can read that.
  17. I love hanging around here.Tapping away at the pooter we have had snow, wind, hail and bright sunshine and I've just secured a landscape contract from my youngest daughters boyfriend for £50 and a rib roast....plus our postie should be delivering a coin or three from Sweden
  18. I have sent the seller a message about WRL. Lets wait..... What I find astonishing is the pathetic knowledge of some buyers.
  19. Hi In VF the value will be the silver content only.. Collectors will require GEF+ Melt prices have been dropping. So hang on to them.
  20. It is great to see quality and these bad boys will still be in the same shape in 500 years time. We won't.
  21. Colin For my sins I read the Daily Mail too (only when I pop into the village shop for bevies and sandwiches) The mail started the KEW 50p rush/20p no date No doubt they will pick up on the Churchill £20 coin
  22. About time you gave something back to the hobby. Brilliant stuff fella
  23. We have a little investment coming out in June of which the current Mrs Peter is unaware. Now should I be a bit naughty or a lot naughty? Her lottery syndicate won over £500 each and she spent it on herself and our daughters.
  24. I have a US dealer who grades at the UK market. I buy at his grades before pictures.....best dealer/buyer he knows what I like. My Edward V11 1/2d's are the dogs ocks.
  25. Peter, Sounds like you have life sorted. Purely as a matter of interest why have you avoided proofs? Mark Mark I like the currency issues. Nothing against proofs but my buzz is circulated currency. I would love to meet up for a pint.
