Dukes estimates are strange (and wide) Talk about hedging your bets

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

This is the seller that wouldn't send a 1882 no H 1d to another forum member because it went too cheap. He has sold some nice coins.

    Olympic 50p

Our village PO had these delivered in sealed mint bags. I got the set really quickly. I even spent about £20 worth The completer I got from Andy Jack.

    Comedy :-D

One of my grandfathers said only a good German is a dead one. Time moves on. He had served in Africa in the 2nd world war. I mentioned I had met Germans in Spain in the early 80's and we all had a great laugh and enjoyed their company. He couldn't accept it. I have found all of the Germans I have met are polite/educated not Q jumping and have a good sense of humor. I can only go on my impression. Nice people in my experience For the ones I have met. Don't forget they got a good slapping too when it wasn't 99% of German public's fault. I saw on facebook where V2 rockets fell in the UK. Likewise their city's destroyed. It must NEVER happen again. Lets just take the French out and divide the country....dirty soap dodgers
  7. Hi Mathew Great to see you posting again. I also like the latest obverse. It is life like for a lady in her 80's she is still regal and a credit to the Commonwealth.
  8. Gary I would appreciate the info as well. Cheers Peter

    Need help identifying coin please

They are farthings issued in the 17C. Currency coins many with brass wedges. They can be graded but eye appeal every time for me. Many are found in and around the Thames (ferry price to cross) There are a couple of books on them and a few experts about. Start by looking at Colincooke.com and take it from there. Also see aboutfarthings.

    CGS Again

We are friends with a lovely German lass from Melle. She used to be a secretary at Hereforder Pils where the local Squadies called a pack yellow handbags.

I do like a nice slab of sirloin medium rare. The thread here was about double standards of slabbing. It needs policing because there is a conflict of interests. When big sums of £ on a grade there is greed about. Obviously too tempting for some TPG's

    Malcolm the 4th Scottish penny 1141- 1165

Dave put me onto Coincrafts book on Scottish/Irish etc coins. Maybe a few years out of date but hey who uses their pricing? £20 delivered and well worth it. It is an area that interests me. Scottish Nationalists hmm

This really narks me. They were obviously stolen to order and must still be out there. They bloody need to be researched and published.

Some of the coins Robs collects have a bloody lot of research behind them and the work obviously will pay dividends. Each to their own.I can't resist a Bury St Eds mint hammered. I appreciate Robs work on IDing quality rare coins which will now be around for future collectors and part of our history. I do have Roman coins with tickets over 110 years old. I try and ID/record all my coins so my daughters will benefit. My aim this year is to pick off a few quality coins and cease on reckless buying.

The wee lad will have more than a Roman (1880 cheque from the Royal bank of Scotland,Sottish shilling from 1959 etc etc)If he takes an interest I will be delighted.and Paulus will have enough for bit of rump. It has been a pleasure to contact over Predecimal.....I think Chris should stump up for an Amsterdam weekend.Only kidding Chris.I just hope we put business your way.I recommend your books because they are in my eyes the best.for attracting new customers...we all move on. Sears for the Romans and North for the hammered do scare a few.The more I stay on the forum the more I learn. I must admit I have established dealers from the US ,Scandinavia,Germany who I mainly deal with I do like Clive from Historic coinage and chip off a few now and again. We now have a post box because our Springer would rip anything through our letter box.Postie now hides packages around the garden(we have a code)

There were reports of these coins turning up in Dundee and Munich but Dave our feral Scott denies all knowledge. BTW packages have been sorted to Dave and Paulus.(I don't accept returns) I've tried to give you both a nice selection(most important that Daves lad can ispect his treasures and Paulus I'm sure you can enjoy a steak night with .a partner of choice.

Search on Malcolm 1Vth. I have Coincrafts Scottish Irish coins etc I will have a peek later. Most of the early Scottish coins were stolen and hence we do not have history. Some old guy took them home to study and was duly robbed.

P&M's float my boat and I will end up with a nice example. Being a reformed coinie I am concentrating on types and leaving my early copper on the back burner. I can't specialize like Rob as the funds/library/nouse are not there.

Hi Welcome to the forum. I did a quick google search and got a few good hits. It is rare but other examples have been found on the Isle of Man. I suggest you contact the Edinborough museum or the Fitzwilliam in Cambridge.

    Newbie

I can recommend Collectors coins GB 1760-1970. A superb publication. It lists the late Victorian crowns by edge lettering. We need to persuade Chris (the owner of this site)to cover all the milled issues.

    Edge knocks spring to mind...
  22. AU is about VF in the UK so retail £8 to £10 slabbing it costs more than the value of the coin.

    Some simple rules.

Unbelievable the things that change,I don't need salt now, food tastes really good.I gave up 12 yrs and hate them now. I never realised what the cigs made you smell like to others, until a few months after I had given up,not pleasant. They say the first 28 days is the hardest so congrats and good luck with the next few months. One dealer I stopped using because his envelopes and coins stank of smoke. Mrs Peter still buys me a cuban. They cost a fortune Not smoked in the house
