  1. Alibaba express has a nice selection of wreath crowns which sell well on ebay. $10 is OK I think you can buy them for $2 or 3 bucks.
  2. I'm cunning as an owl and slippery as a fox.

    Saxon Hoard

Get them recorded. I'm feeling good.

    Saxon Hoard

Go on and own up. I would of sneeked a few. The Mildenhead haul Hoard of silver...I can assure you a few bits missed the bus. Mother in law cared for the grandson. We called him model T...Google it We have eaten out a few times. He left quite a bit to MIL the fur coats were not accepted. She is now toes up but we do have a nice goblet.....maybe
  5. I did treat myself to early serving spoons which appear once or twice a year 1810 & 30. I also bought mustard / salt /pepper pots at the same time. When I get these bad boys out the Mrs Peter and the Misses Peter's know I'm cooking on gas.

Nice looking coins. Pre Nazi get overlooked.
  7. Och aye MCazda A very nice well presented coin.
  8. Once it is a slab you won't see it. I've witnessed this before. Trust and integrity is missing in my opinion.

Hi Kev and welcome to the asylum. I am the Coin community recommender. Do have a good delve into the forum, raise old topics and fire any question in. None of the books mentioned are over £30 and start from just over £7. You might be able to pick them up cheaper on Amazon/ebay. With regard to 20C forgeries we only have a few dates 1905 half crown&shillings and wreath crowns 1927-34 these are live and kicking on ebay Enjoy

    Hammered Copper Farthings!

Breckland sandy soils throw up the best...as I know When I was working at Lakenheath we ordered 40t of type 1 to sort out safe access to the office. I found 2 Romans,5 or 6 farthings and about 10 musket balls. There was also the Saxon king on his horse within 800m
  11. Peter Lawrence claimed varieties at every possible occasion. CC often commented a better specimen needs to come along. A nice record of dies/repaired/blocked dies would be lovely. As I said for the time being CC has probably got the best base. We can use his collection and merge in the Oxford farthing collection and throw in anything else we discover. I like to be a completest, my mile stone I reached a few years ago was every cu currency 1672 to 1956 (except for a few impossibles...1676???,1693,1718 etc) I now spend many hours sorting on dates and using Colin's fantastic resource to add a few varieties on the cheap, When a publication comes out they won't be so.
  12. A monkey with a chisel could of done the job better. I think we must start with Nicholson for the 1/2d's and CC for the 1/4d's and improve from there. The 1d boys had Peck/Freeman/Gouby/Satin. I'm going to bed cos my head hurts.
  13. Ch11 to W111 are out of my depth with varieties as they were with Peck. Quality control was non existent..... G1 & 2 cause problems as well. I upgrade a date but it is different to what I have...so I keep both....it goes on and on. I think you need to set your own agenda with these and maybe one day we can all meet up to chew the fat.
  14. This is the rare 1912H in GVF ish http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/400845958830?_trksid=p2059210.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Less than £7 I believe it was a good buy and will be an improver for my daughters collection
  15. Google 1658 Cromwell shilling and see what they have been going through London Coins auctions. You can get a nice one for less than £1k the guy is deluded.
  16. If I was going to spend £4k on a coin couldn't live with that. It would be worth nothing to me....although there is a guy in the states who does brilliant repairs.
  17. Excellent book Chris. George 11 next

Nice coin Pete. I realize I must up my game.
  20. Lordshill I have a pile of CM bigger than a pair of dddddd's I will go thru them to find what you want. Oh CM come back and replace the crap coin news.
  21. I mentioned this a few years ago that a 1865 1/4d with a HUGE edge knock went through London Coins auction and ended up in a CGS slab which covered this up. This sort of thing doesn't go unnoticed by the pre decimal police. I've bought a few slabs from CC because I trust them. An edge knock would be a big NO. My MG had a scratch (daughter wheel barrow mix) she denied it although my other daughter saw her doing it £300 later and she confessed. I've had cups of tea on tap and my hair combed.
  22. I must clean the floor as my tounge keeps hitting it.
  23. Shite i've lost a year.
  24. What have you tried a few times, Peter? I 've tried to open on your link....I think Mrs Peter has banned all coin related stuff. When I receive a coin or book I'm like a big slobbery puppy...she likes that... Must get back to the kitchen.
  25. As an aside. I took my 81 year old mother shopping tonight and all she could do is praise my sister who lives 200 miles away and that I don't do enough for her. I've decorated her bungalow, sorted a new bathroom and phone her most days.Shop every week. My wonderful sister buggered off 30 yrs ago. She comes down about every 6/8 weeks and take her out for a meal and maybe a bit of gardening work.Mum has enough £ to employ gardeners odd job men It was the same with my mothers parents. One of her sisters went to Auz and the other to US. My poor dad was left in charge, walking their dog, shopping, bingo lift. BUT.............Tonight she said I can buy a £500 coin because I'm not a bad lad...I didn't see that coming.
