    Recent aquisitions

I will say it as I see it. I wouldn't want it due to eye appeal. It is too blotchy for me.
  3. Any thing you are missing I can probably help. Although I'm sure Rob has done the job.
  4. I'm sure he got some cream for that.

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Paulus But there again you can't describe a coin as poor on ebay....or can you? That would of gone in my pre 1920 scrap pot. It would be nice as a pocket piece.
  6. It's all a bit WITH WINGS.
  7. Declan did a remarkable tooling job on that 67 1d to turn it into a 04d.
  8. Jordon (Katie Price) thought deflation is a smart idea.
  9. Nice tokens Brandon. Heads up for you. John Newman coins has a large selection of tokens in his ebay shop.

    Books

Welcome Picard I would suggest Spinks book or Coincrafts 2000 edition. With these two you should be able to ID most things. Post a picture on here and we will help.
  13. I'm a QS by trade and when I was a trainee I was give some drawings to take off quantities and they were imperial.
  14. Bill is highly regarded at CGS and is involved with forums/meetings etc
  15. Krause Umm they do a job but fall far short of being accurate.

    Auction Houses?

Paulus is spot on. Selling as a job lot will fetch little. I would suggest and recommend letting Chris Perkins (who owns this site) a chance to give you an offer. He will be fair. If you can list what you have and produce a few pictures I'm sure it will be to your benefit.

    1970 penny

I've got several sets of proof coins(1970) and more recent. On Ebay sellers make quite a bit selling coins after breaking the sets up. Jordon Pick up a 1970 set.Keep the 1d and sell the rest and you will probably make a few £.

    1970 penny

The 1970 is available in proof sets. There are no 68 or 69's The 1967 dies were used until the end of predecimal !d's

    Hammered coins Worth buying?

£10 worth there Simon and that is for the silver. Stick to what you know or dip your toe in with known expert/dealers. Clive Knipe of Historic coinage would be my 1st point of call or any of the dealers on the forum. Gillis coins also come highly recommended and if you want to push the boat out Lloyd Bennet or Rasmusen will give you quality.

    Ebay Global shite programme

That is far too much IMO but if you build in the shipping and you need the reference it is what it is worth to you. Gone are the early internet days of dealing with the US. i bought a job lot from a Florida dealer where I negotiated a discount and free shipping including a 1698 date in legend 1/4d described as EF ...it wasn't but nicer than CC examples. I also got a 1698 1/4d date in exurge for $10 date is clearly visible. No crap with customs. I still make regular purchases with another US dealer and we get around the customs crap.Thank you Uncle Sam to your nephew John Bull. My last major purchase from the states customs charged me the lot. I mentioned the coin was over 300 yrs old. At the end of the day I was being charged 20% against 5% ...I gave up after considering what stress it was causing and the vet bill on the cats. Make your contacts early I would suggest. There are ways around it. Especially if you have contacts working on the US bases as I did for a few years.
