  1. Jordon The farthings 1771 - 75 were also heavily counterfitted especially 1775. Rooney I only go for decent cu.

I won a 1853 florin whilst England were playing Scotland. It was a decent coin and cheap. Guess what the seller couldn't find it.

A peaceful new year to all

I wish everyone a great year ahead. Both daughters are working tonight but my youngest has just requested my credit card as she wants to cook a roast dinner as a treat. You can't say no. Plus she wants me to treat her to a bottle of Vodka. A new member of the family arrived yesterday...A bloody rabbit called Tim. We now have 2 male cats,a male Springer and a male rabbit and me. 3 women too many but I wouldn't swap them....well open to offers.
  6. I will always snap up genuine copper currency from 1700's. I think Colin Goode(aboutfarthings) has about 10 varieties of 1773 farthings...keeps me on my toes. Thanks Colin for a great site.

    Saxon Hoard

I've considered joining the Weekend Wanderers but they don't seem to have many digs in my neck of the woods. I would like to see part of the hoard put into the market for collectors. Quite frankly I have seen so many abused coins in museums and miss-attributed. The detector boys seem to operate within the system. I did ID a load of Roman coins for a guy.I then found out he was a nighthawker...contact closed.

    unidentified hammered coin, please help?

Of course we all want to find treasure but equally I love finding history. When we go to North Norfolk I try and find fossils and amber on the beach.

HNY Bob Don't you head South for Sunnier climes after Xmas.? I'm self employed and often burn the midnight oil. Predecimal keeps me going. OK Mrs Peter kicks me up the Arse sometimes.

A peaceful new year to all

Our 2 cats are feral. Our 1st one was the original hissie monster but a tickle under the chin plus a bit of fillet steak(sneekie bugger) the 2 cats and our dog all cuddle up. Mrs Peter was feral aswell....well a Irish lad and English Officer's daughter. My 2 daughters have inherited my gorgeous wife's looks and not my 9" penis thank goodness
  13. Oh so true Stewie. My coin interests make me a coin slag. I'm just not coin faithful. Dinner is now on I don't reckon to survive another 12 hours.

  16. I've been on this forum for 10 yrs and may I say it has taught me so much.(Thanks to all) I've had a difficult December with losing a best mate on 8th Dec...far too young,a few sleepless nights when I would go on the forum and meet the dawn chorus. Every one enjoy your Christmas break and I look forward to many more years of the forum (Thanks Chris). I shall raise a glass (Santa's tipple) tonight .CHEERS.
  17. I follow Delia Smiths recipe and use fresh free range eggs and quality plain flower. The Yorkshire pud tin with the fat in should be smoking when you put the mixture in. There are also Aunt Bessies which are fine for a quick fix.
  18. Par boil the potatoes and rough them up before you put them into hot fat. You will get crispy outsides and a fluffy center.
  19. I'm having one more beer tonight and then it is time for bed.
  20. Dave Stay strong you have many friends here. Mrs Peter was in a coma at 17 after a car crash. She had a fit 15 years ago on Xmas day 1am.We hadn't been on the sauce and my mum was staying over. I didn't know what the hell was happening. Since then after Addenbrooks she has been fine, they tied it back to her coma. It was a Xmas to forget. I hope you,Frau & your lad can get a peaceful happy Xmas. We are online 24/7 it seems to be.
  21. He is a good boy and does exactly what I say. I won't let him eat his dinner until I say it is OK. I once forgot about him and he was watching his bowl with a load of dribble around his feet. We do use him on the hunt and he is brilliant. Take him to the beach and he is mad as a box of frogs. He came from Torwind Spaniels who have fantastic dogs.
  22. I would love one of our Springer....sod my daughters. It is our Silver Wedding next year August.... and our Springer is never more than 2 yards away from Mrs Peter.(Unless I am eating a late dinner and then he prefers me. ) I would love to sort something for her and your charity.Well done Colin.
