I still have a sheet full of the buggers as well as my 1915 farthings.Back burner for now. BTW happy spring to everyone. Strawberries, new spuds and smelly wee asparagus. Even the dog gets walked at 5am....best time of the year. He is currently in the utility room because he stinks after ditch diving.

I have tubes/unrolled coins enough to copper a church roof with a nice green hue. Just part of my collecting/learning. I did buy 40 Scottish 1/- coins in Ef+ but due to Ebay I will keep them (Declan had one) 0.99P and he sold it for a decent profit. They were key coins 40 years ago.

Good stuff I've taken a few nice examples from circulation. Often the supermarkets and our village PO have mint bags.

I spend hours on updating and variation hunting but spend very little. It is always new interests that broaden my focus. When something rings my bell I say ding dong.

All you can do is block buyers. I'm sure we all have a list. The buyers and sellers are mainly great so I will still keep using it. I restrict countries although I have had been happy to deal with genuine collectors who email first. My eldest daughter does my listings although I pay heavily. Plus the trake down to the village PO.

The 51 Crown isn't silver. A nice coin all the same. Buy one which is in its presentation box. They are great value at a few £'s. The important bit about the EDV11 florin is getting a good strong date.

I've have a few good turn around's but a fair few dogs. I get the coin home and find a big dig in the cheek. Oh well. You learn a lesson.

Old Time Dealers-Reminising
Peter replied to Colin88's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Mainly coin dealers are Gents apart from the shillers. You only deal with bad apples once. When at the Midland I always head for my favourite dealer 1st and we greet with a handshake. Buy them a cup of tea / sarnie. -
I got my 50,51& 53 from the coin man on Bury market many years ago. I bought the 51 and the following week he gave me a 50 & 53. This was in the early 70's. Happy days

I find it amusing that so many fools are out there. Just look at the PPI claims. Hopefully my 2 daughters are warned...although they do attract some right knobheads.
