That was an IMPRESSIVE list kuhli. Are they described in the book aswell or merely listed? I should consider to buy such a book myself Some nominals/coins I havent heard of from this time/period... 2 1/2 cent from Netherlands and 5 centimes from Belgium... are there any description included for thoose two?

As stated in another thread Im under impression that some coins are under valued on the swedish market comparing to some other nations. I seem to see an tendency on swedish auktion sites where people are willing to pay more for swedish (which might be natural), norweigan and american coins but they hardly ever, for example, accept french coins if you so would throw them at them... Has anyone else these kind of experiences!?

Either its me and numbers or me and computers.... I got a card connected to Visa but it said it couldnt do the transfer... anyway tomorrow is Wendsday, then ill ask the bank clerk to make the transfer aswell as set it up for me so that i may do future transfers by myself (hopefully).

Sounds as one should check US-dealers when shopping coins from Europe...
-
Im under the impression that german pre Third Reich coins are under valued on the swedish market, but I can be wrong... hmm that might be a new topic
-
And this 5 pf from Danzig 1923
-
Also following these... 3 lowgrade 1/2 mark coins from 1905 minted in Berlin
-
If you dont mind Chris I would very much appriceate a list of examples of coins from roughly 1888-1890 and onward to, but not including the Weimar Republic. No really high graded needed, just curios wether it might be cheaper to buy these kind of coins directly from you (germany) then deling with swedish coin dealers. As above might show Im targetting Willy the last Emperor inclusive the colonial and wartime coinage. On another note, I will have to go the bank office personally inorder to pay for your book, so the payment should arrive 2-3 days after wendsday. Hmmm unless one can use Mastercard!?

Well thank you for that warm welcoming Geoff T Are you specialising on farthings aswell?
-
Nice To start with Im interested wether Luxemburg struck any coins during WW2, wether it was merely Vichy-France that issued french-franc during the same period and if there where any minting of polish coins abroad (USA?) during the german occupation. Also interested of any american made currency for foreign nations while their nations where occupied by the germans... (thinking of starting a new collection ; ) Would be happy for any nominals and timeperiod of their minting.

Thanks again kuhli. Changing to another topic, does that book of yours say much about world war 2 coinage of Europe?
-
gaelish!?
-
Hmmm yea I think I recall something about some minting in Philadelphia during the Second World War, both coinage for the Netherlands as franc to be used in Alger. Perhaps there where even more... lets try to find out.
-
Thanx kuhli. Does the book mention anything about if and what coins was minted from: Norway, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands and Denmark?
-
Very nice loking site you have there JMD Mind if I link to it aswell use one of your coinpictures to make an icon/symbol of? For me, less knowing, some general info about farthings with pics would do fine on your site.
-
You shouldn't go paying much attention to young JMD's spelling Lol! I actually changed my spelling from copies to coppies due to JMDs spelling in the belief that I learned something new about the english language today...
-
Thank you kuhli. Do you remember where this kind of information is availible.

The two later sellers you mentioned seems to know what they are talking about.

The coins on the pictures looks like 5 Reichsmark coins. Wether they are fake or autentic I cant say but if someone have got there hands on such an amount of silver reichsmark I would as a buyer be interested of where he/she got them from. The 5 Reichsmark coin was minted between 1936-39 weights 13.9 g. diam: 29 mm. and contains 90% silver. The following letters (minting places) can be found on different years on the 5 R-mark: A 1936-39 B 1939 D 1936-39 E 1936-39 F 1936-39 G 1936-39 J 1936-39 If fakes, the forgery might have forgotten to do his/her homework and thus some coins might not apply to the above standards. But i dont want to take the joy of collecting away from you, if you trust the seller buy! but if you find a new seller offering you a bunch of coins at low-prices ignore him/her. There will always be fakes of popular coins in the loop basicly cause people can earn money on it. The way to avoid to fall in the trapps is to gain knowledge about the coins and ask questions to the sellers.

Well my advice is dont! The nazis never struck gold-coins. What you can find on e-bay or other auktionssites are just people trying to lure money from other people, thus the "gold-coins" are not authetic. The recently interest and demand for Third Reich coins have generated a lot of fakes of both the regular coins aswell as of this new "gold-type". My guess is that they come from Eastern Europe as alot of different fake coins have been found by the police in Sweden, fakes "minted" somewhere in Kiev if i recall correctly. Other good things to know is that the nazis stopped minting silver coins (Reichsmark) after 1939 and that they used zinc for the later editions of the pfennigs as the previous used minting material was needed for the "war effort".

I am collecting all of them...the different years, variants and types (with the exeption of Charles II patterns)... Sounds as if i ever have a question about english farthings then I know where to turn then
-
Thank you kuhli and interesting... one of my own my recently raised fields of interest are coins from Soviet Union (1918-1991). Do you specilise on any particular nation or time period when it comes to Eastern Europe?

E-mail send.
-
Thank you kuhli! And Master JMD I agree, unless one specialises on fakes and coppies merely autenthic examples will do as part of a real collectors collection.

Ok then I guess it is just as easy to pay it in british pounds via a bank transfer. I was just curious as the british pound have becomed rather expensive lately in relation to swedish crowns. The beast deals (from a swedish perspective) now days seems to be by paying in us-dollars but Im guessing the us-dollar are rather low valued in comparison to british pounds now days aswell.
