Im somewhat curios, as I know icelandic coins have been minted in Birmingham and lately in London, what other foreign coins have been/are minted in Britain? Or does anyone know of where such information can be located?

European Lookalikes
Berg replied to krasnaya_vityaz's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I can please all englishmen by revealing that Swedens first coins where made with imported stamps from England and the skilled craftsmen where to a very high probability english aswell. Later on, the coinage in Sweden was more influenced by Germany... but that is another tale... -
Interesting reading

Im aware of that 5 shillings equal a crown, but why does some coins have the nominal 1-crown in writing on them (like a gibraltar crown Ive seen) and some 5-shillings (like most "english" coins)? Are there some kind of "rule" when to use crown instead of 5-shilling?

Question about Swedish 1 öre coin
Berg replied to mint_mark's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
And here comes an answer from the swedish board... "Seems you have found a unique coin - or possibly a counterfeit... Both the 1 öre and the 2 öre from all dates have plain edges. The 1907 coin is one of the commonest, due to the fact that all coins from 1907 and 1908 were dated 1907. (The king died in -07 and the new coins weren´t set to be produced until in 1909.) If your 1 öre coin of 1907 isn´t a counterfeit, or if you haven´t been somehow mistaken, you are to be congratulated. But I have no idea how much you can charge for the coin." -

Question about Swedish 1 öre coin
Berg replied to mint_mark's topic in Enquiries about Non British coins
Im no real expert on such early öres coins from Sweden, neither can I find any references to such variants in swedish coin litterature. I include some scanned pics form one of my books, showing they do note any variants. That of course doenst mean there doesnt exist as I know errors and flaws always sneaks in, into books and reference litterature. I have thus asked the question in a swedish coin and stamp forum. Hopefully there is someone there who can come with an answer. -
Does anyone know how to clean coins made out of zinc properly? Or will I destroy them if trying?

Redirecting my web-page due to change of operator... http://web.telia.com/~u50606968/start.htm

Well as my webpage is rather new aswell I thought I just could toss it up here aswell for you to comment Its not as fancy as Jmds cause I can merely figure out the basics of HTML and it is on swedish although Im trying to set up a limited enlish version aswell. In short be easy on me but dont be afraid to come with ideas. Berghs Myntsida

Ok, thanks guys. Im lifting it of from my gonna-bid-on-it-for my-ww2-collection-list then.

Does anyone recognise the coin on the picture in the link below? Link I get it to Mussolini and 1928, but I cant find anything about such a coin!?
-
Is this an "original" 10-groszy coin from 1923? Or does the coins made during ww2 look that way to!? Link
-
Link changed. The collectors who...!?
-
Thanks aleroit for clarifying some more.

Thanks kuhli (yet once again ) While Im at it... does the book you have say anything about the danish 1-crowns between 1942-47... If I get one of my sources right, they where made in two variants; one in nickel and one in aluminium-bronze!? Or have I mixed it all up?
-
kuhli - as I know there is a gap among 2-kopeks production during WW2, does the same "productiongap" apply for all kopeks?
-
Been working some more now, most notably with the ww2 coinage, but this is basicly how far i come with the sources availible to me, so any more info/pics are welcome. Im also feeling that the page is growing into something to big so perhaps I´ll try to cut it into smaller web-pages, well I dont know, Im rather new to web-page building.

It gave me some kind of "cyber" feeling, or in other words its design or perhaps colours stuck out from ordinary coin sites.

Hobbies, Other Interests
Berg replied to tubandpud's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
My other hobbies... Cross dressing, strip clubs, older women, younger men, being the only gay in the village! Nah I love reading among other things, spend time with my 2-year old son aswell as study history in general. To add some other things I never say no to drive "skoter" (sorry dont know the english word), travels (mostly in and around Sweden) and fishing. -
I would be one that would appriceate some kind of list of people that one perhaps shouldnt trust on e-bay. Im often looking at coins there but hesitating if I really want to buy as Ive seen obvious frouds in the auction-descriptions on e-bay, making me very un-secure how much you really may trust people there. One cant exclude though that e-bay has alot more coins then the swedish variants, but on the other hand there seem to be much more odd people on e-bay, people just trying to earn money on other peoples good faith...

Begginers set - english pre decimal coins
Berg posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Chris! If or when you got some time to look it up could you please post a proposal for a begginers set? I saw your beginners set on your web-page but Im more looking for a mixture aswell as a bit cheaper. Maximum cost would be 8 pounds (the maximum amount Im allowed to transfer via a eu-transfer). Thoose 8 pounds are inclusive freight cost (2 pounds!?), so the value of the coins I assume should be around 6 pounds. I would mostly appriceate a mix of different nominals from different monarchs but please exclude 3 pence, 1943, and 2 shillings, 1965, in the mix. -
Thank you kuhli for your assistance.

I will be happy to be of assistance... all I can say now is that the one you have in your possesion was made in Stockholm. If my memory services me right, from 1832 all coins was minted in Stockholm until 1974 when the minting moved to Eskilstuna.
