  1. € is ctl+alt+4 some older keyboards don't have the € sign. And Chris if i press ctl+alt+e i get é (but i might have altered that so that when it comes to words like élite i can spell them correctly!)
  2. Ah right! i haven't been for over a year, and 10 years before that, so perhaps in 9 years time i'll go again!
  3. so it's cheaper to travel from Manchester Pic to London Euston, than it is from Sheffield to St Pancreas? (or whereever it goes now that they've shut St Pancreas for re-development).
  4. Maybe he's just got a bizarre sense of humour?
  5. i bet they have James II sixpences in VF, can i get one? can i... (don't have the money for one now, but i do need all of the varities eventually, that includes all reverse types and all overdates).
  6. too far for me, i've got very little cash as it is now, and any money i did have to spend, (like £60 or so) would go on the train fare to get there i'd probably be short too... (what is it about £70 or £80 standard return these days?).
  7. Cheers! I still haven't added the 1834 one, (and i need a Geo IV type I in at least GEF or preferably AUNC) I've got to update the 1732 Roses and Plumes one, and i've got to add a 1703 VIGO one. Might need a top (not high, but top!) grade Victorian Young head. Then there's just James II and i'll have owned every major type of milled sixpence since Charles II - Elizabeth II. (Despite the fact i've just sold all the post William IV sixpences off) And Chris i've just been browisng through your for sale section and is that 1895 shilling the one i sent you? (just wondered!)
  8. i've got it the other way around as well, not only is the money not there, but quite frequently neither are the coins. So how many 1710 sixpences have i seen for sale? (none!) [i've seen more decent 1858 sovereigns for sale] Some time i think i should have stuck at collecting shield reverse sovereigns of the London mint, i would have had half of them by now at least. I know one dealer that always have 40 or 50 or so on sale at any one time, mostly in F-GVF.
  9. yes Jiffy! (now Cif), you have a good memory!
  10. What can i say? I just love the things. The reason why i've been able to buy these is because i've just sold every single one of my British coins dated 1816 or after to Chris, except for 4 sixpences (1816, 1825, 1826 & 1834), a gothic florin (1864) and a pattern Edward VIII Crown. I'll hang onto the newer six cos i like them.
  11. i got the cat bit...
  12. i got some more yesterday! (see here..) http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.c...787&STARTPAGE=1 (hope that works for you non-members) At last i have all the 1728s! (except the proof... but you know how it is, i don't intend to get any of the proofs).
  13. don't worry i won't go raving mad! I don't intend to use my new found powers to the fullest, i'll probably be a bit lazy and turn a blind eye to most things, but if a troll/spammer shows up then that message is history!
  14. i've deleted a few already, from when we had that person posting about how coin collectors were saddos, it added no value to the site, and it was spam (in the non-open forum), so it got deleted. I suppose all the subsequent messages (mostly about trainspotting) in that thread could go, but i'm in no rush to get rid of them just yet. But at least by deleting those others i have raised the average mental age/maturity of the thread in question.
  15. it could of course be a real one weakly struck from a worn die
  16. i'm not sure about that, look at the bit near the garter, surely there should be more detail than that down there. The design also looks flat.
  17. well the quarter noble was from Rendal Ingram, and the sixpence was a killer deal from a coin stall in an antiques building in York. I forget the name but i've bough coins from her before, all reasonably priced.
  18. i can't speak for the copper, but the Early Milled silver is up there at the top end. And so is some of the hammered.
  19. Oh yes, I nearly forgot to ask him that! Quarter Noble = £200 Sixpence = £57 All in all not too bad.
  20. Sorry i know Chris was never fussed on us posting pics, but these two coins have got to be posted! (feel free to delete them in a few weeks time) Firstly a denomination i've been dreaming about getting for some time... http://www.omnicoin.com/coin_view.aspx?id=889566 and now for something better...
  21. Colin Cooke sells quality coins, but i can't help feeling the prices are a bit high even so, hence why i've abstained from buying anything from there yet.
  22. shipping for 3p would be about 50p or so.
  23. over charge on the shipping and you make a profit that's why. (this was a response to the question of why people sell 5p's for 5p)
