$525 for a Churchill crown!
Kronos replied to Hussulo's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Maybe a statement along the lines of "your having a giraffe mate!!" Just for a giraffe I'm watching it, its on for 29 days. Just it time for that little stocking filler. If you want a bigger giraffe take a look at some of the other coins for sale, a 1953 proof Florin for a mere £2,000.00. -

English and Scottish Shillings
Kronos posted a topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I have two questions that are puzzling me: 1. Please can anyone explain why from 1937 to 1970 shillings were issued in English and Scottish varieties. 2. Why did this not happen to any of the other GB coins? Or am I mistaken. Thanks Mark -

I am having trouble identifying certain bronze Pennies, I have an 1861 penny but I have know idea what variety it is apart from it has a toothed border. The Spinks 2006 Coins of England book has 7 pages dedicated to the penny but I am still lost. Can anyone help me out here, also would you say the grade is Fine?. Thanks, all help is appreciated Mark -

Thank you both for identifying and confirming the coin for me. I have just ordered 'THE BRONZE COINAGE OF GREAT BRITAIN BY MICHAEL J FREEMAN - 2006 SPINKS EDITION' I have heard that this book is a must to any GB coin collector. Thanks again Mark -
It's our 10th Wedding anniversary in Feb 08 and the wife has treated us to a trip to Berlin for a week, bless her. Well she’s organised it all and I have had to do my bit (as we do) and pay for it. You’d think I should have seen this coming after being married for nearly 10 years!!! Anyway, does anyone know of any coin dealers/shops etc in Berlin, I’ve been to Berlin a few times before but that was pre coin collecting days (come on, a week with the wife and away from old blighty, I’ll need a coin fix now and again). I’m only interested in GB coins but you never know what lurks in a corner of a foreign field, as they say. Thanks P.S. My wife’s German so I’ve got no choice where we spend our wedding anniversary.
