Unfortunately, this dissemination of information can, and probably will, be a double edged sword. The producer (counterfeiter if applicable) can very easily learn his flaws and eliminate them in the future. Richard, what you are providing to to the collecting community is invaluable, yet, due to the knowledge being shared, we now have to be more vigilant. The never ending cycle of good against evil. As good as the top TPG's are (or at least claim to be), there are documented instances of them being fooled too. We now have to contend with both genuine & counterfeit coins placed in counterfeit holders. We also have had instances of genuine holders being opened and resealed with lower grade coins replacing the original. Unfortunately, there will always be someone uninformed who will be taken in by these coins or some who thinks the price is "too good to be true", not realizing that it truly is. Again Richard, thank you for your website, it is most informative and should if possible, when no longer being added to, be published somehow in reference form. Possibly in disk form structured as a website.

It also exists with obverse 3, which is rarer than obverse 2. As you indicate, this is the extremely common obverse 6 -

Can an administrator move this post to "more pennies", as a follow-up to the question re the Bressett guide. Thank you. These are scans of the pertinent pages from the 8th (1975) edition (hardcover), and the 9th (1982) edition (softcover). -

I've been trying to post 2 scans of pertinent pages in the more pennies and am getting the following error message. I get this error even if I just try to post text. -

Genesis 2:22-23 22 Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man. 23 The man said, “This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called ‘woman,’ for she was taken out of man.” I just want to know if the "WOKESTERS" plan to rewrite the Bible in order to make it "Politically Correct". Perhaps they intend to challenge the ""Word" of GOD" -
Assistance Requested re: Identification Please
Bronze & Copper Collector posted a topic in Ancient Coins
Would someone possibly please identify the imaged coin and possibly give an estimated value. This is not my coin. I am researching for an acquaintance. I do not have the coin in my possession and these are the only images that I have. With no actual knowledge of the coin, I would hypothesize that it might be a Greek Tetradrachm or something in that family. Thank you in advance for your assistance. -

1911 1/2d A+b unlisted by Freeman
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to Gary D's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
The only variants in the dates mentioned that I am aware of at present are as follows: Four for 1911. Both Obverses and both Reverses intermixed. (Gouby A&a, A&b, B&a, and B&b). Two for 1912, listed on Michael Gouby's website as 2 date spacings: Date A "Centre of 2 to bead, 10 beads" Date B "Centre of 2 to gap, 9 1/2 beads" Re: 1925, I am aware of only the two listed in Freeman, F-404 (1& A, Gouby B & A), and F-405 (2 & B, Gouby C & B). -

I remember seeing advertisements for "Certified Genuine Facsimile Autographed Baseballs". Does that translate to that they are guaranteeing them to be fakes? Or Genuine Fakes?? It's Ludicrous. And people buy them.

NEW UNLISTED VARIETY of 1873 HALF-PENNY
Bronze & Copper Collector posted a topic in Confirmed unlisted Varieties.
I recently acquired what is possibly the 5th known specimen of a Half-Penny variety, unlisted in Freeman but acknowledged by Dracott in his Half-Penny study.... An 1873 obverse 8 paired with reverse C#. What I later discovered amongst some coins that I already had, but passed over because it was not an obverse 8, was another 1873 Half-Penny with reverse C#, but paired with Obverse 7... UNKNOWN & UNLISTED till now..... See attached scans...... -
NEW UNLISTED VARIETY of 1873 HALF-PENNY
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to Bronze & Copper Collector's topic in Confirmed unlisted Varieties.
I would tend to concur with you on your determination. My comparison of certain diagnostic indicators led me to that conclusion too. I'm not sure what the current known population is, so I will defer to your numbers. For the census, currently i have two obverse 8's, as well as two obverse 7's which include the discovery coin. -
Halfpenny ID check
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to mrbadexample's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I presume that the coin in question is the 1861, which, although admittedly it does look like a P/F, I would tend to doubt that it is a HALP penny. Although it is known with both obverses 6 and 7; to the best of my knowledge it is only known on reverse G. The coin in question is a reverse E (note the LCW). I would suspect that it is some sort of gunk at the tip of the crossbars of the F in HALF. For what it is worth, I hope that I am proven incorrect, or that I have been looking at wrong coin. The best scenario would be that it is a new discovery (those are always nice). Best of Luck
