Collectors Coins Great Brit. 2015
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to Chris Perkins's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
The 1861 is an R/B... The 1862 is a B/R ... similar to the1862 B/R penny... -
If I remember correctly, I WAS able to load DNW on the non-working isp if I loaded the website through an "anonymizer" , an anonymous browsing program.. I'm on my cell phone now, but if you do a google search for that sort of software, use it, and are then able to load goldbergs, then I would be fairly certain that the problem is not with your computer but rather with your isp not recognizing the domain..
-
I would suggest contacting your isp and provide them with the details.... try logging in somewhere else with a different isp and see if you can connect then.... I had the same issue with DNW several years ago... worked with one isp but not another.... they needed to correct the problem.... also let Goldbergs IT dept know and ask them to contact your isp also...

Uh, that should be passed, not past. Fined one shilling. The deadline for the offer has now passed..... and the offer is now in the past...

Help Id reverse on 1910 ed penny?
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to MACKSILKY.'s topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I just printer out both images, tried to overlay them.... compared side by side.... I don't see a difference.... However, with the quality and fuzziness of the poorer image, one can not really be sure.... I tend to notice that the serifs on the lettering oar not as clear.... The lower serif on the 2nd 1 in the date is not clearly visible, giving the impression that it is over the tooth.... Best to wait for the coin in hand, take better pics and then compare.... -
Help Id reverse on 1910 ed penny?

To me it lookd like it is pointing directly at a tooth.... Difficult to be certain of anything from the image.... especially on a cell phone screen.... -

Feel free to congratulate me! I'm just about to join the 20th
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to TomGoodheart's topic in Nothing whatsoever to do with coins area!
It was deliberate. It's only a budget smart phone. Lacking even the most basic teleport, time warping or terra-forming capability. Plus to be really up-to-date it appears I'd need to understand what a Google account does or why I'd need to sync my watch to my washing machine or something. Which I don't. But it's a start. Actually, I suspected that was intentional.... Apparently, we are not alone...... -

1861 Penny identification
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to Prax's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I'm on my cell phone so it's difficult for me to see on the small screen... However, in the order posted, they appear to be an F-22 (4&D), an F-32 (6&F) the rare variety, and an F-25 (4&G). Possibly someone with a large screen can confirm or refute my assessment. -
1862 Penny Varieties
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to DaveG38's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
Not to mention the 1862/1 ...we'll ignore the different date placements What are Michael's rarity ratings? I know that with Freeman R8 and R9 stand for "not especially scarce", but I assume MG's are different. I'm not home now and don't have my copy with me.... There should be a rarity scale listed within. He also attempts to note the quantity known on the rarer varieties but with new discoveries being made those numbers are always subject to change and should be used as a guide and not accepted as gospel... -
1863 one penny confusion, help please :)
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to will6489's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
No, I didn't mean the date. Have a look at the right hand side of the obverse - do you see a very much larger than usual gap between the teeth and the linear circle? I've rotated the image the correct way up, and it's still there. Particularly noticeable by REG.F I believe it to be an optical illusion, inasmuch as the linear circle is barely visible on most of this coins obverse. The lettering appears to be the same distance from the border teeth although it seems farther because the linear circle is not apparent between the two (the teeth and the lettering) -
1863 one penny confusion, help please :)
Bronze & Copper Collector replied to will6489's topic in British Coin Related Discussions & Enquiries
I'm on my cell phone... so the image is smallish... however it looks to me to be a normal 3 F-42 ...... Not a half-penny date... Not an open 3, nor a slender 3... No indication of a die number... -
