    Irish Coin Pics. Anyone?

I don't own this coin anymore, but the picture was taken while it belonged to me... You're welcome to use it, probably best to crop the coin from the holder though... Can't seem to find a better image though....

"I don't have much knowledge on coins" Caveat emptor!! probably doesn't have much knowledge OF coins either... or maybe he does... or possibly JUST enough knowledge..

Lcn Auction - 1877 Narrow Date Penny

Its a question of completing a collection ...any serious collector of bronze pennies knows that there are only a very limited number of R18+ pennies available to them and in the case of the 1877 narrow date they might only get an opportunity once or twice to buy one....and none of them are in high grade. I think Bobs was quite a high grade Although I can't say definitely, it was probably the finest known... certainly the finest I have ever seen imaged... "The exception that proves the rule."

    Looking For British Pennys

I notice that you don't mention any of the H mintmarked varieties... Are you just doing a date run, or are you filling holes in a whitman or other album? Just asking so I know what to look for...

1862 Penny? What Do You Think?

While we generally do not pay notice to nor comment upon the expense involved in building a collection... with the exception of possibly commenting upon the stratospheric levels acheived by certain rarities... we do however acknowledge the painstaking research and effort involved in acquiring specimens that are amongst the finest available....QUALITY FIRST... It's more than be said about my collection... You are way too modest... You have some very fine examples indeed! Thank you for the kind words....I do have many of the rare varieties, albeit not always in the choicest condition.... I'll grant that some may not be available in the so called "collectable grades"..... My belief, however, is that if someone (me for example) wants it for and places it in their collection, then it is indeed collectable.... As I made note in another post, I generally do not collect proofs nor patterms, (with some exceptions), so the collection is not as complete as others.... But I am content with what I have accomplished, working with what I had available to me....

    Ebay's Worst Offerings

Yes unlikely he bought it as a 2+G I suppose, is he just pulling a saxby?I'd give him the benefit of the doubt except that it's still listed as obv. 2 and he says he has higher res images available on request so I don't understand why he didn't use those in the first place! I messaged him also and am still waiting for a response... Maybe his response is that the auction is now ended..

Penny Collectors Who Are You All

Sorry but for my eyes and fingers they are, pretty coins though That's much as it is with me..... Concentrating primarily on mostly pennies and half pennies and limiting it with few exceptions to circulation strikes only.... I've recently expanded my farthing album to accomodate the varieties noted on Colin Goodes website (well deserved hat's off to you Colin)... I still have difficulty seeing farthings due to size and I probably will never achieve the level of completion that I have attained with the other two denominations... Especially, being on a fixed income, I have to budget my purchases and/or make some dramatic finds.. But the thrill is in the hunt itself....

The 1870 "Dot" under the Y of PENNY, sold to a advanced collector in the UK for nearly $1,000. Good to know for reference purposes..... mine isn't as nice but still worth something ......

    victorian model penny

Is that "TonyPlayMoney" ? That's the one!I didn't know that he finally published it... I'll.have get a copy.for reference..Rogers was the reference to use but included much more than these model pennies... Just as Freeman supplanted Peck with the bronze issues, and Gouby expanded upon Freeman (at least with the pennies), I would expect Tony's book to supplant Rogers with the models... Without seeing it, I would still recommend it, and as I said before, will get a copy for myself.... After I sold my Model collection of 100 or so different varieties, Tonymade an offer on the rare varieties that I had kept... The penney error, a silver penny, and a silver half-penny ex-Norweb.. I wish him luck with the book Tony's book is very thorough and comprehensive indeed. He spent a great deal of time producing it, especially the hand drawings of the micro-varieties. Being hyper-critical, the scans would be better as photographs and he could have done with a grammar checker! Very much a labour of love though. I may possibly have your silver penny now? I recently bought an example, together with the two unique pennies (brass and nickel-plated) that Tony had. I'm not home now, but when I do & have the chance, I'll see if I can find the images of those coins.... SILLY ME.... THE COINS ARE IMAGED NEAR THE BEGINNING OF THIS THREAD.....

Every Man Can Relate To This

I don't understand how you anyone can think that women are smarter than men.... Why they would want equality when they are already superior is beyond me.... Then again, I'm just one of the inferior males...

    "1933 Penny"

Although I don't collect proofs or patterns, I would not refuse to have any of the above varieties in my collection.... I couldn't afford any of them but I wouldn't refuse any of them if offered... LOL
